My experience in the construction industry began less than a year after graduation from high school, operating a dozer and backhoe mostly on farms and small tracts of land developing residential building sites. During the mid 80's was when I initially became licensed as a septic systems contractor with the state of Illinois.
During these years we also became involved in commercial grading and excavating on several notable sites throughout southern Illinois. In 1990 I accepted a position with a contractor who primarily engaged in installing large sewage collection systems in cities. During the years I worked for them I was involved as a laborer, an operating engineer and as a site foreman.
I was involved in the installation of collection piping for municipal waste collection systems. In 1993 I accepted a position with a heavy and highway excavating contractor as a project superintendent. During the next several years I was involved in the construction of highways, a major wastewater treatment plant, a major water treatment facility, a state correctional facility as well as multiple smaller projects.
