Like most American business stories, Vermont Plank Flooring was born of a degree of foresight, a little bit of luck, and a lot of hard work. Our involvement in the wood business started in 1946 when Jack Tarmy started driving a lumber truck making deliveries in the Boston area. By 1958, he had his own company, selling the finest New England timber to customers around the world.
Most purveyors of hardwood flooring are retailers who purchase their flooring from wholesalers who purchase it from the mills that produce it. The retailers may brand the product as their own, but it's likely the same product moving up the supply chain to showrooms and websites of numerous other retailers.
Vermont Plank Flooring is committed to sustaining our valuable forests and maintaining the earth's precious ecosystem for generations to come. Striving for ecological balance makes sense on many levels. From a business perspective, we rely on the earth's bounty for our products, so it is in our best interest to be stewards of the planet.
To flip an idiom on its head, one might presume that here in our home state of Vermont-where we are surrounded by woodland-we may "lose sight of the trees for the forest." Or one might postulate that working with trees on a daily basis, as we do at Vermont Plank Flooring, might prompt a bit of indifference.
Vermont Plank Flooring offers Select Ash in Natural Grade, which highlights Ash's potential color variations and contrast between creamy-white and light-grey tones of the sapwood with light-brown tones of the heartwood. By special request, we may be able to produce SAP Ash (Selected for Color) on a limited basis, which provides greater uniformity of color and consistency of grain pattern.

Installed 1000 sq ft of this flooring five years ago and have loved my floor every day since then. Each board is milled and beveled to my specification. Absolutely beautiful upgrade to my home. The floor looks amazing! We were looking for wide plank flooring and they delivered - 8" wide white oak with heavy character similar to knotty pine and nailed it. The whole process was smooth and the best part was they did the stain finishing in house before shipping in which was the icing on the cake. Believe it or not to have custom floors made were not that much more than big box stores.

Vermont Plank Flooring is the best. I chose an engineered hickory with a natural finish. The floor is beautiful. I found this company while searching for wide plank flooring. We are in Idaho, so it seemed like a bit of a gamble to ship something so far without being able to see it firsthand. They shipped a sample and from the first contact to actually seeing the product on the floor, they have been great. Super customer service and amazing product. We haven't done the final treatment yet, but everyone loves the large planks! I highly recommend this company.

Recently had Vermont Plank floors installed and are in LOVE. Their customer service was great every step of the way, we're new to home renovation so it was so nice to have that constant support. I could call Gary anytime and he'd help :) The product is gorgeous. I chose character grade because I like the rustic look and have been getting so many compliments. Also chose the engineered and the layer of Oak is SO thick, basically indistinguishable from hardwood. We're so super happy. Fully recommend.

Where do I begin.... If you are looking for world class customer service and high quality custom wood flooring products I wouldn't consider looking at another company to work with. I've been working with VTPF on custom wood flooring needs for my building projects through the last 4 years. Never have I worked with a company that cares so much about delivering such a quality product to every customer. Each project we have completed the customers are in shock when the floors are uncovered for viewing. Each floor is so unique and individual. I would suggest VTPF to any builder or home owner.
