At Living Stone Masonry, we offer free design work with our projects. As stonemasons, we understand the characteristics of stone structures, and we listen to our clients' needs and wants and look for the unique design opportunities in every situation. One of our specialties is dry stone walls, patios, steps, and walkways.
We build these features without mortar to harmonize with the environment and endure for a lifetime. We have the most DSWA (Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain) certifications of any company in North Carolina. We are trained by the world's top Dry Stone Wallers to provide our customers with professional, efficient, and beautiful drystone structures.

Services
Our mission statement is 7-fold. 1. To provide the best customer service of any masonry company in the Asheville/WNC area. We realize that our business is based on customer satisfaction and recommendations, so our client's needs come first. We call back, answer emails, and give reliable estimates. 2. To respect the materials we work with.
Growing up in South eastern Pennsylvania, I was always surrounded by stone work, new and very very old. At 19 I moved across the country to Prescott, Arizona where I would meet Alyssa, my wife and mother of our first son. While living in Arizona I took a seasonal position with the local trail crew building stone walls and staircases.
Join us for this unique workshop in the North Carolina Mountains in May of 2019 as we create the bridge pictured above! We are proud to welcome John Shaw Remington from Ontario, North America's, leader in drystone bridge workshops. I am a person who builds dry stone walls and bridges and thinks a lot about how to get other people discovering what a satisfying occupation it can be.
The top of the Vance monument, freshly repointed during our 2015 restoration project, Downtown Asheville. The clients in East Asheville were unhappy with their narrow concrete sidewalk, so we changed the shape and covered it in this unusual flagstone. Closely spaced stepping stones make for a beautiful sidewalk in this East Asheville residence.
The owners were unhappy with this plain, uninspired fireplace and asked me to design something more modern to fit with their aesthetic. We used drystack fieldstone with a flat arch and local hardwood mantel to create an up-to-date fireplace that the owners are proud to call the focal point of their home.

Living Stone Masonry was the best part of a long term addition.. Franklin and his crew worked tirelessly in all weather to create true works of art! For a retaining wall he created a 20 ft stone bench. It's amazing!!! The patios and stairs are magazine worthy. The dry creek bed is a natural water run off. The stone fire pit and all the extra creations he added like a 'little stone pit' for my grandson to play were works of love. I would not hesitate to show you his work.

Even better than we expected! Franklin fixed our 80 year old chimney, which had several unprofessional patch and "repair" jobs over the decades, but finally someone did it right! He was very professional through the whole process, from the first contact through to guaranteeing his work. He was quick to respond to all questions, was timely and neat with his work, and stuck to his original cost estimate.

Franklin and his crew did two driveway aprons for us out of fieldstone and not only are they beautifully done, but I found working with Franklin a real pleasure. He was more than willing to work with me on each detail to make sure we achieved our vision. His crew was great and professional as well. I highly recommend Living Stone Masonry!
