My name is Dale Kaufman, owner of Greater Pittsburgh Chimney Sweep. My experience with chimney sweeping takes me back to the summers of high school learning with my local chimney sweep. I quickly fell in love with trade. Greater Pittsburgh Chimney Sweep is fully insured leaving you at ease. These pictures are from a fireplace and a wood stove. As you can see here, there is a significant build up of creosote. Creosote is a highly flammable byproduct of wood burning that accumulates in a chimney flue or stove pipes. It is important for creosote to removed to prevent a flue fire and have a properly working fireplace or wood stove.

Matt was absolutely fantastic! Took the time to walk me through our set up and how to use it since I don’t have any experience with wood burning fireplaces. Extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. Absolutely no complaints but I would recommend calling as early as possible to schedule since we had to wait a bit for our appointment.

Matt was outstanding. He cleaned our fireplace insert and was very knowledgeable. We have a new unit and chimney liner, installed about 5 years ago (by a different company), but he reassured everything looked good. He asked us about 4 times if we had any questions.

Nice guys but I would shop around for chimney repair quotes. I paid for the inspection and was quoted $9,500 for liner demo, new liner, parge, and damper...just had the exact same scope of work completed for $4,020. I was also told it would take 2 workers 2-3 days to complete. It was completed with 2 guys in one day. I've found that the Pittsburgh contractors prices in general are higher than the guys out of Washington County.

Sometimes as homeowners we neglect certain things. In my case, I put off getting my chimney swept for far too long. Dale came out and swept my chimney clean and showed me before and after photos...BIG DIFFERENCE! Also, Dale was able to replace the crown of the chimney. I had no idea it was deteriorating, but yet again I’m not on my roof much. Highly recommend!

I have never had a more professional and respectful conversation with a contractor than I had with Dale. He does everything you want in a contractor coming into your home. Thorough inspection, friendly smile, patient and wipes his feet before entering your home..(I know this sounds minor but I can't tell you how many muddy contractors just come stomping in on your carpets). If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Will definitely use his business again and would recommend to friends and family.
