Having lived on the Sammamish Plateau for more than thirty years, I started this business in 1997 when I retired from teaching on Mercer Island. Since I have worked with tractors on a casual basis most of my life and have always enjoyed helping others, the origination of Mike's Hauling and Tractor Work seemed like a natural.
I offer a variety of grading services. From smoothing out your property and defining a basic grade to using the latest in laser leveling technology to create a perfectly flat base for a concrete pad. Below is a list of grades I can build for you. Before grading a portion of landscape, the area will of course need to be cleared of obstructions.
Due to our hilly terrain, retaining walls are an integral part of landscaping in the Northwest. I have built many different types of retaining walls and am more than happy to share my knowledge of materials and past experience. Pictured at right is one of the retaining walls I have built. There are many reasons for homeowners to add retaining walls to their landscape.
When the job's done, I'll haul away soil, rocks, and yard waste that's been dug up in the process. I also provide grading and land-clearing services, and can help with just about any other landscaping need that you may have. Here are before and after photos from a backyard earthmoving project where we expanded a level area surrounding the patio.
Mike's can cut overgrown grass and brush fields down to size, making them manageable once again. Using the tractor, I can quickly cut down tall grass in your field so that it is manageable for smaller mowers or just mow it for you a couple of times a year to keep the edges defined. If you have a field with other unwanted overgrowth, I can also help you with clearing brush, and cutting down trees of just about any size.

Mike and Marshall operate with great precision and accuracy. This 2 man team overhauled my entire yard in just 3 days. They took out our rotten rail road ties, used our stones and repositioned them better and put stairs where the old ones were. They also removed an old oil tank to the books and though pricy was worth it to expand our yard. Their work is quality and will only need it once to upgrade your forever yard. They will give you their expertise on how to best upgrade your yard.

Mike clearly has a strong knowledge base. I had a tree fall and it was dangerously leaning on a neighbor's fence. Also I had pile of excess earth I needed to do something with. He came out and provided a competitive estimate same-day, and he was able to do the job in a very reasonable time frame - amazing!
The tree was removed safely and professionally, and per his recommendation I had the dirt pile graded into the other bare ground I had in my backyard. Execution was professional and I am extremely pleased with the results. My tree issue was taken care of and my backyard was left even/level.
