I feel that interior design is like any other art form. It is used to paint a story of the home's occupants. It conveys a message of who lives there, what their passions are and what message they are sending. When a home is well designed the story is easy to read, but poor design can muddle the tale, just as poor writing can ruin a great narrative.
I find that my ability to look at design from all angles and to think outside of the box/trend gives me an edge in the industry. I prefer to start with preexisting pieces and to build the design from there. I studied at Bellevue College. I am always continuing my education by taking design related courses and workshops to keep up on trends, materials and techniques.
I was born, raised and still reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I currently live in quaint Lake Stevens, Washington (about 45 minutes north of Seattle) with two of my three intelligent and driven children, our Himalayan Ragdoll cat, and very sweet Anatolian Pyrenees puppy.

Marlie at An Interior Matter helped me furnish and decorate a brand new 4500 square foot home. She selected a color scheme and design style that fit the taste of both my husband and I, along with choosing items that physically fit the space and our price range. I’ve actually always thought I have pretty good instincts with design but could never have pulled something this great off myself. I would hire Marlie again in a heartbeat.

Marlie came into our world at a time when we had already spent a few years remodeling our house and I had worked on and off with 4 other interior designers. I ran into various difficulties with each one. Some were just not too interested in the projects I needed help with, some were too far away from me to make home visits practical.
Marlie was a breath of fresh air. She's done 5 different design projects for me over a couple of years and with each one she had GREAT ideas. She has an amazing eye for colors and she did all the research to identify suitable furnishings. She was incredibly efficient

The headline here is that Marlie is AMAZING and Magical!! She has worked with us on everything from furniture placement to taking over our many(!) Christmas decorating projects, to turning our extra garage into a guest "cabana" on a very tight time frame, and is currently working on a full overhaul of our kitchen and adjoining living spaces.

A couple years ago, Marlie at An Interior Matter helped me remodel two of my bathrooms. She presented a comprehensive design idea, was open to changes, and was very accommodating as I consulted her along the way with vanity and fixture input. Marlie has a true designers eye. I liked that she asked me questions, listened to me and was able to narrow all of that down into a design that I loved. I highly recommend An Interior Matter. You will not be disappointed.
