Sterling Fence Inc. has been providing fence materials and installations to our customers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area since 1978. We are a family owned and operated business; full service, stocking materials for Cedar wood fence, Galvanized and color coated chain link, vinyl fence and ornamental style fences.
With experienced carpenters, Sterling builds every wood fence on site to properly fit the terrain. We use #1 grade boards in the construction of all wood fences. Western Red Cedar is one of the world's most durable woods. Natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect damage has long made Western Red Cedar the premiere choice for exterior home use.
Commonly referred to as mesh or wire, Sterling Fence primarily sells 11 gauge and 9 gauge wire. The gauge refers to the thickness of the wire. The smaller the gauge (number) the heavier or stronger the mesh or wire. The wire also comes in varying diamond sizes. The greater the number of diamond shaped openings, the stronger the fence.
For a touch of elegance and decorative style, we can install ornamental fencing using Jerith Aluminum. Jerith has a distinctive appearance that will complement any home. Jerith fences offer the attractiveness and protection of traditional wrought iron fencing without the maintenance. No other fence will do so much to enhance the beauty of your home, pool or yard.

So we had them install our fence back in 2016 and they did a fantastic job. However, we had a tree fall on our fence and called to see if they could come help us repair and get replacement parts. They basically told us we are too busy and to find someone else. Pretty disappointed since we obviously would rather have the company that installed it come out and fix it but I guess we will go elsewhere for our business as directed

I cannot recommend Sterling Fence. We had to replace a fence because we have an autistic son who is prone to elope, and he could get out of our previous fence. They came to take down the old fence, left the old footings in the ground, took two weeks just to get the new posts up, and then another two weeks to get the panels up. A month. A month to install a fence, leaving our vulnerable son in a dangerous situation. Unacceptable. Communication was terrible - no shows on days we agreed they would be here to work, no phone call to let us know they had to reschedule, days to return phone calls, I had

I was really impressed with Sterling Fence! They took in my yard when another company left me hanging and they did fantastic. I love our California style fence. Within a couple weeks of the spring thaw they came to put in posts then less than two weeks later my fence was complete! They even said they’d come out to fix the orientation of the gate because my husband guessed wrong. All in all, I had a good experience contrary to the other reviews I saw and I’m happy I decided to give them a shot!! Very pleased and will recommend.

Called three companies, two of them said they'd have a sales rep call me back, I was able to make an appointment with Stearling on my initial call with them. Sterling came out two days later and gave me an estimate on a new wood fence. I was impressed with stearling and decided to go with them and not wait for the other two to call me back. That day I applied for their no interest financing and was approved. Fence will go in in May, never did hear back from the the other two companies. Overall experience has been great!

No call, no showed an estimate appointment.
If you can't respect a potential customer enough to call and say you're running late or have to reschedule you shouldn't be running a business.
After not showing-up to our appointment, I called their office and spoke with Dia. She said she would figure out what was going on but got side tracked and I had to call back again only to hear about "truck troubles from Dan."
Whether that's true or not, there is no consideration for clients schedules. I would not recommend them.

Sterling was one of the few companies willing to do a small job at my new home that other companies did not want to bother with. I needed a single gate turned into a double on my existing chain link fence so I could store a boat in my backyard over the winter.

The lack of communication and customer service is appalling. My wife and I wanted to get an estimate for our fence to be repaired. They gave a rough estimate (based on pictures only), but they never came out to do an actual estimate. We "fell" off their schedule to get an estimate, so when we didn't hear anything from them for 3 weeks my wife called them back and we didn't hear anything from them until one day I came home and the work was "done".
