At the start of what would become the roaring twenties, when New York City was absolutely the place to be, Michael Silberstein turned his back on the Big Apple, packed his bags, and headed south. Drawn to the quiet streets of the Jersey shore, Silberstein and his wife, Malvina bought a house in Rumson, and he began working at a casket upholstery shop in Red Bank.
When Superstorm Sandy damaged Starland Ballroom, owners AEG Live gutted the building and called on M. Silberstein Interior Design to get this New Jersey landmark venue back on its feet. Starting from the ground up, we developed a design concept that stayed true to what patrons had come to know and love about Starland, while creating something shiny and new.

Rude rude rude!! These women think they are above everyone else and my experience with them was nothing short of horrendous. I came in looking to reupholster my sofa and began with “money is no object”. They proceeded to explain that they don’t carry certain fabrics because they simply “don’t like it”. They also began speaking to me in a manner that came across as if I were wasting their time. As any client seeking professional help, I was asking questions to help guide my decision making process, they concluded the brief informational session with a snarky attitude stating “well

Not sure where all of the 5 star reviews come from but here is my interaction with Mindy. Got Mindy's contact from one of our contractors. I called them mid July to make an appointment to pick out some stuff for our newly built home. When she picked up the phone she didn't even want to talk to me and immediately put me through to her assistant. Her assistant kindly explained that the next available appointment would be August 12th (over a month away). Now I get it they are busy but to wait a month for a consultation is a bit much. Oh yeah did i mention there is also a $75 consulting fee just to

I originally went in to have 2 cornices reupholstered and a window treatment made for my daughter's room with some fabric I already had. Once in there I learned that they made custom beds. I worked with Mindy on a bed and a chaise for our master. I went in with a vision on how I wanted them to look and Mindy helped my vision come to life. I can be a controlling and demanding customer but Mindy was so patient and kind. I respect her opinion and design sense. We worked so well together. I had a wonderful experience working with Mindy and plan to work with her more in the future!

What a pleasure it's been working with Mindy, she was insightful with what I wanted to accomplish, and carefully helped me to make all the right decisions. Silberstein is masterful in their upholstery and drapery, and everything they did for me is perfect, the bottom line is my room is absolutely gorgeous!

Mindy Silbertein has a great design aesthetic. I was not convinced by some of the choices but she asked me to trust her and I did. The room is fabulous, everything worked beautifully. Mindy's attention to my satisfaction was really appreciated. She'll be back, we have other projects to do, she is already working with 2 of my friends
