Last Saturday 10 of us were going to go to a winery. We decided on a private wine tasting instead with Steve Mesteiro from the Wine Cabinet . Boy did we make the right decision!
Talked with Steve about what kind of wine we wanted and he was right on! He brought with him a fabulous selection of wines from around the world! It was so informative, he even brought a map of each country and region of the wines we were tasting! He brought all the glasses and wine!
It was so wonderful to not have to drive home from a winery after all the tasting
The tasting can go as long as you want, we did 3 hours

Very friendly management staff there. Lots of wine choices. If you are looking for good and great wines this is a great place. They have wines nobody else has. This is a boutique type store, and as a result they don't seem to be competing in the "under $20" market. They offer a mixed case discount if you ask I think.

Bustling wine shop with very helpful staff. Loved all of the selection and the wide range of gift baskets. Lots of fun wine accessories and a nice selection of craft beers. Easy to find something for anyone on your list. Really enjoyed our stop!

I actually quite like this wine shop. Their selection is excellent.

I was not actively greeted when I walked in, but that doesn't offend me at any store. I've worked retail before and I know even if there aren't customers in the store, it doesn't mean you can't be busy.

I went to this store for a specific wine, and started at the front and worked my way down the sides looking for it. I could not find the bottle and approached the man at the counter who was happy to show me where it was (tucked back a little like the first three bottles had recently been purchased), then

Yet again, Steve Mosteiro and The Wine Cabinet at North Point have put together a fabulous spread of wines for our family. Each time we get together we like to try new wines, and we can always trust Steve to provide a thoughtful combination of grapes. This time we tried all Italian wines. Not only were the wines delicious, but Steve went the extra mile to preface each wine with a wealth of information about their unique history and geography. As always, this was a fun learning experience for the whole fam and we can't wait for the next one.

Great local wine store. They have a good selection of wines as well as a smaller assortment of craft brewed beer. The staff are friendly and will gladly answer questions. They have regular wine and beer tastings. The shop adds some nice local character to north Reston.

If you're looking for a laidback and extremely knowledgeable source for your wine needs - look no further - The Wine Cabinet and Steve in particular is your man! He is extremely knowledgable and well versed but also very effective in explaining the nuisances and backgrounds of each wine in understandable terms to the average ear. Over the past several years Steve has helped us pick the perfect collection of wines to supplement our family gatherings. Do yourself a favor and look no further...go visit The Wine Cabinet!

This is the second year in a row I've had an amazing Christmastime experience heavily influenced by The Wine Caninet, and in particular Steve M., whose passion for wine is infectious and inspiring. Last year, Steve helped our family organize an awesome tasting of strictly Pinot Noirs, but from all of the major regions of the world - the idea being to focus on a single wine and figure out for ourselves which particular region of the world produced our favorite. The exercise was super helpful for identifying my personal go-to Pinot Noir when dissecting overwhelming wine menus.

This year, we

My wife and I stopped by after reading reviews about a great selection and wonderful service. The variety was indeed excellent. We picked up the bottle pictured below. The service, however, was underwhelming. Upon entering the empty store, the gentleman didn't do so much as greet us. When asked for help finding a Brunello, all he said was "wall behind you". Even when my wife asked about their Thursday open bottle special advertised at the check out counter, he said "it's on Thursdays". She had to ask again what the special actually was and he said "we open a bottle on Thursdays and discount it

On several occasions and family gatherings, The Wine Cabinet, in particular Steve M., has been a tremendous help in navigating wine from all over the world in this welcoming, locally-owned shop in Reston. Whether you're looking for the perfect Merlot to pair with your upcoming dinner plans or wanting to learn more in general about how to shop for wine without having anything specific in mind, Steve is the guy to go to! He is an inspiring and passionate educator and I can 100% count on him to help me pick out a bottle of wine that I or friends/family will enjoy. My favorite part of shopping here

Outstanding local wine (and beer) store, that does more than just sell wine (and beer). Multiple weekly wine (and beer) tastings from a variety of vineyards (and brewers), and we’ve taken advantage of their monthly wine seminars, and their wine pairings dinners as well. Kate and Mike and their staff are super-friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Lovely store and a great place to visit! The employees are very helpful and help out anyone from a wine novice all the way to a full-fledged oenophile. We fall on the novice side of this spectrum and always appreciate the staff taking the time to ask us about our preferences and helping steer us to the bottles that we might like. The store has a nice selection and has a small rack of beer/brews, port/fortified wines, and bubbly in the back. They also have a modest but nice selection of serving trays, bar accessories, and party supplies. All-in-all, we couldn't ask for anything more from our neighborhood

This boutique wine shop has been a hallmark of Reston for many years. I don't remember how I discovered it but I love my visits to pick out favorite wines and discover new ones.

The owners are usually at the store, and you can tell theirs and the team's commitment to true customer satisfaction. From guiding my selection based on my taste, budget, and occasion; to assisting to resolve any questions or concerns.

I'm especially impressed that they will make themselves available for "wine emergencies" even during holidays when the store is closed. I haven't taken them

A year after my review, I was contacted by the owner of the shop. He wanted to apologize for giving me the Drumheller Chardonnay bottles with messed up labels.
He offered me a bottle of the same wine as an apology. So I went and picked it up. I also met the owner Mr. Rande Jenus and he was very apologetic for what happened.
Although I had almost forgotten about it, I was happy that Wine Cabinet whose first impressions on the phone, of the wine tasting lady, were very good, gave me another good one by showing a nice gesture. It is after all, "Better late than never."

I come here quiet often as I live right up the street. The staff is always super accommodating and will be more than willing to address any questions or concerns you might have. The beer and wine tastings on Fridays are a delight and it's always something new and exciting. Yelp gives a 20% off coupon for checking in here so save you're self a few coins and make sure to check in. Very clean store, very helpful staff, easily a five star.

Still top notch! I live in Arlington and don't like travelling to Reston because my body can't take the time change but I like stopping in because the crew there are still the best!

Dave (whom they call "the beer guy") has increased and improved the beer selection and offers different labels as they come available and sends out updates and reviews on them. The chicks dig him and after seeing how he treats them like all other customers (i.e. some beverage stores seem to treat women like they are morons) I understand why. Someone should go in and lay claim to him while he

A great wine store fortunately not far from me. Showed up on a Sunday afternoon, a bit before closing. Gave a description of what I liked, and was handed two wines (only one was for me unfortunately, the other a gift). The wine was delicious and not costly! Definitely a great place I'll be going back to when looking for wine gifts!!
Not stuffy, snobby, etc as I feel some wine stores can be! Felt very comfortable and welcome :)

Until today I had no idea this place existed, but boy am I glad I found it!

They have quite an extensive selection of reds, whites, bubbles and rosés at various price points. Although I do agree that some bottles seem to be a little overpriced, at least compared to the small wine store I typically frequent.

That said, I do like that their sections are clearly marked by intensity and the store provides notes about flavor and staff favorites. On my first trip, I was able to find 3 mid-priced wines that I look forward to enjoying later on.

Shame on me for checking in after the fact though

If you are a regular they treat you like family. If you're a new customer they treat you like you're best friends. They hand pick every bottle of wine and beer in the store and because of this there is no bad choice, just the dilemma of picking the right choice for the right occasion.

It's always an enjoyable experience I look forward to, after a hard day of work or a relaxing Saturday/Sunday.

Well laid out wine shop. I stopped by to purchase a white and red for a dinner party. Dave was helpful, seeing that I had no idea what my guests were serving, in a suggestion for a good white and red in the price range I was looking at.

Friendly and clean store.

I would definitely come back for their tastings and events.
