Tuckpointing is a very common masonry service that can extend the life of a masonry structure. Cutting out mortar joints to a proper depth, and using to correct mortar blend is important for a long lasting repair that blends seamlessly with the existing masonry. We work with brick, block, and stone to offer a variety of services.
Historic restoration is the practice of restoring properties to their original historical character. Restoration on historical buildings focuses specifically on maintaining and preserving the original condition of the building. New restorative work should blend seamlessly into the existing structure.
You will receive a call from Tim Monahan, who will set up a time to personally inspect your chimney. Tim is the owner of Monahan Masonry and has over 30 years of experience in the trade. Your chimney cap should be built to last. That's why we form and pour our caps extra thick, and take other preventative measures to ensure your cap will last.
Chimney liners are required to safely remove combustion byproduct outside of your home. Byproduct can come from the use of a fireplace or other appliances such as a water heater or a furnace. There are two common types of chimney liners: clay flue, or metal. Clay flues are what you will find in most chimneys especially for the use of a traditional fireplace.
Chimney caps are an essential part of a well built structure. Caps enclose the structure, and prevent water from entering and causing further damage. Once it is damaged or cracked, it should be replaced as soon as possible, or you may end up having more serious damage to the chimney. This is the most common type of cap for larger chimneys.

Our chimney rebuild and tuck pointing was no small feat. The team was here when they said they'd be, they were always professional. When we were getting dust in the house, they took off their boots before coming in to investigate to avoid bringing in dust.
Ours was one of those projects that just kept spreading through no fault of the masons. They still stuck as close as possible to their original quote.

Monahan Masonry recently rebuilt a failing brick knee wall at the edge of our patio. We couldn't be happier that we chose them to do the job. They were professional, courteous and did exceptional work. The communication both during the estimating process and completion of the project was excellent. Tim, Ryan and Eric were all great. We were delighted with the work Monahan Masonry did in tuckpointing our home. They were professional, did exceptional quality work, and made sure we were fully satisfied. I was particularly impressed with the care and time they took when they removed and then rebuilt part of the stonework over our garage. They did not cut any corners and the end product is beautiful. Monahan Masonry just finished our chimney rebuild week of April, 26, 2021 and they did a great job at a great price. They were supposed to start rebuild week of May, 01, 2021 but, started early and were out of here by April, 29,2021. Great guys, great team, great work. Tim and Ryan did an amazing job repairing the foundation of our garage. Due to heavy snow and rain fall, part of the foundation moved and the wall it carries also shifted. As a result, it was difficult to open the garage door (it had to be pushed very hard), and most importantly, we were concerned that eventually the wall would collapse. Tim and Ryan lifted the wall, repaired the foundation, straightened the wall, and then put it all back together in such a way that it was impossible to tell that anyone was messing with the garage at all. Their work was impeccable. They cleaned up after themselves

Tim and Ryan Monahan were professional, clean, on budget, and most importantly they did a great job on the masonry work. The job consisted of removing a deteriorating chimney from a steep-roofed 1930 Tudor and rebuilding it. We have an older home built in 1930 so we were concerned that we wouldn't be able to find the tricolored brick blend or the course block front for the bricks that would approximate our original bricks. Tim was willing to search for something that would match well enough to blend with the house. Thanks to Tim and Ryan for a job well done.
