Thornburgh Companies started as a mechanical insulation contractor in 1987. As the number of our customers and their demands for more services increased, we expanded into the asbestos and lead abatement fields as well as the painting industry. Fire Stop Technologies is and has been the standard for that in the St. Louis area since 1994 for both fire stopping and fire proofing.
In an effort to stay ahead of increasing industry needs, we saw a demand for a company that could understand, specify and provide fire stopping solutions not only in high-rise buildings, but anywhere that life safety and building preservation could be at risk. Since February of 1998 Jay has worked solely for Fire Stop Technologies Inc. In this time period he has progressed from product sales to the Chief Operations Manager. Jay has fire stop product manufacturer's certificates of completion for educational and training classes from Hilti, 3M and STI. He is very familiar with the codes required that entail fire stopping for all through penetrations and fire rated joints.
We have, collectively hundreds of years of experience in both heavy industrial mechanical insulation as in cement plants, power plants, refineries, chemical and ethanol plants. As well we have preformed mechanical insulation on some of the largest commercial mechanical insulation jobs in the St. Louis area.
Every Thornburgh Removable Cover is a custom designed flexible blanket. They can be used to insulate valves, flanges, man ways, pumps, steam turbines, just about anything you can imagine. Thornburgh Removable Covers are constructed of only the finest materials. Heavy density (11# / ft3) (176kg/m3)1200 F needled fiberglass "Burglas 1200" is used as the insulating material for most covers, but other materials can be used to meet your specification.

In our business, speed is sometimes of the essence, but safety is never put in second place. We have provided for our clients a detailed safety policy covering all aspects of any work undertaken.
FoamShield is a line of non-toxic, green products that use water, surfactants and air to create a foam blanket that isolates hazardous particles during removal from structures. The product acts as a wetting agent and fiber containment system. FoamShield is the only removal method that actually inhibits airborne particulate release at the point of disturbance.
