NLC is currently managed by the 3rd generation owner, Gary Nelson and his family, and remains 100% family owned. Gary has over 40 years of building experience and is the 3rd generation owner of Nelson Lumber Construction. In addition to his role as General Manager, Gary is a Master Carpenter and has completed projects including award winning custom homes, historic rehabilitations, apartment buildings, commercial & public buildings, and renovations.
Nelson Lumber and Construction (NLC) was established in 1949 by the Nelson family which arrived in the Skagit Valley at the turn of the Century from Sweden. NLC was originally founded as a Lumber Yard in La Conner, Washington selling Forestry Products harvested from the Cascade Mountains. Later the business was diversified into building in the 1950's and 'Construction' was added to the name.
NLC specializes in all forms of renovations including custom bathroom / kitchen remodeling as well as structural renovations including extensions, attic, and basement conversions. NLC also does energy efficiency, window, flooring, door, siding, drainage, and deck projects. Remodeling project consultation services are offered to help you work through different approaches to meet your objectives, budget, and schedule.
NLC supports the development of condos, apartments, walk-ups, and gated communities as well as long term maintenance contracts. We support design, permitting, and construction and have an experienced team capable of completing simple to complex projects. We recognize multifamily construction demands careful attention to architectural detailing as well as materials specifications and management to deliver quality amenities and living spaces.
