Traditional Stucco: Living in the New England area, especially around Boston and its suburbs, you cannot but notice the number of homes with stucco siding. Stucco provides excellent weatherproofing and like all siding, it needs to be maintained. The challenge is to repair cracks or whole sections of stucco while matching the finish texture to the original as much as possible.
The part of any house that is most exposed to the elements is the chimney. It takes a beating from wind, rain, frost and hot sun. The net result of this exposure is the eventual deterioration of the structure. The course of action to rectify this depends upon the extent of the damage. Re-pointing may be sufficient but very often the chimney needs to be taken down and re-built.
Each restoration job is different. Often it is worth taking the time before work commences to identify the underlying issues. Example: Sometimes water seeps in behind brickwork, therefore some of the problem could be flashing or roof related. Often the mortar has worn down and lost its ability to adhere to the brick.
