Scholet Furniture
Schoharie County's original and oldest home furnishings retailer had its beginning at 12 Division Street doing business under the name of A.B. Borst in 1882. A.J. Brown acquired the company in the early 1920's and it became Myer's Furniture Store in 1931. The company was purchased by Leo J. Scholet in 1934 and has been known as Scholet Furniture since that time.

The business in Cobleskill, New York was incorporated under the name of Richard L. Scholet, Inc. in 1967. A temporary office was set up and maintained for seven weeks on the front porch of the Scholet family home in Lawyersville, New York. From there Scholet Furniture moved to the former Selkirk Hardware Building on Union Street in Cobleskill, New York.

Scholet Furniture was responsible for saving this historic landmark and over the next two years converted the building into what is today our flagship location. Slumber Island was originally opened as a bedding and waterbed store. The store changed locations to 254 Main Street, and became Scholet Furniture's second full-line home furnishings store.

Go here before all the others in Albany and surrounding areas. This place is litterally 7 miles from me and shopped here last. Don't make the same mistake I did....To my surprise the choices of quality furniture and descent pricing was absolutely amazing!! Dedicated knowledgeable employees that have been there for at least 8 years. Not pushy but extremly helpful. I personally was looking for power recling leather sofas and love seats and with out any exaggeration they must have had at least 15 + to choose from. Really wish I had gone here and not wasted my time and energy at Taft, Brick and Raymore

I bought a LazyBoy recliner there. They have a good supply of furniture for such a small town location. I liked that they renovated that old hotel decades ago and are still in business there

I've bought a few items over the years, and all has held up well. Wish I had bought my sofa here instead of E.A. I remember this store when it was a hotel and the little coffee shop on the left. It's still a beautiful building.

There were a variety of couch and other kinds of furniture options. Customer service was very helpful, I told them what I was looking for and my budget, they found the perfect loveseat for my new apartment. They also offered delivery and had them bring my new couch up my stairs.

While this furniture store didn't have the style of stuff we were interested, it's got to be the most impressive and beautiful furniture store we've ever been in. Formerly The Main Street Hotel, this building has such a rich history...briefly told to us by the sales woman, Margaret, who was extremely helpful in leading us around.

If you like traditional furniture, this could be your place. They also deliver, with their own service Tuesday through Saturday.
