If the joints are cracked or pieces are falling out but the bricks are fine, you may be able to get away with tuckpointing.

Had them come out to repair my chimney. Some of the mortar was falling out and bricks were cracked. They had to do a 7 course tear down and rebuild with a new flue, a new crown and chimney cap. Luckily they said I didn't need a full tear down since most of the damage was at the top of the chimney, They said it was caused by a poorly made previous chimney crown that didn't go past the brick, so there was no drip ledge. The water can seep into the brick below and crack when it freezes. They also did some tuck pointing for me in a few spots to fill in the cracks.

Very happy with McMahon & Sons. I received a few quotes from other masonry repair companies around Amherst and they seemed the most reasonable as well as reputable. They do work on a lot of newer homes as well as repairs. I had them come to my house in Williamsville to do a tear down and rebuild of my brick chimney as well as build a brand new stone mailbox. Would definitely hire them again and recommend to anyone who needs work done in the north towns.

Very happy with my chimney repair. I had noticed cracks in my furnace chimney and it looked like some bricks were about to fall out. Also the stone cap or whatever its called had a huge crack in it. I called McMahon & Sons since they were very local to me being from the Town of Tonawanda also. They came and gave me an estimate over the weekend and did the repair the following weekend. Chimney is now looking great and I don’t have to worry about it leaking into the house. I would definitely call them again if I need any masonry repair work done.
