Project Description: Earthwork and infrastructure development for the expansion of Jackson National Life Headquarters. The total grading and improvement area was 100 acres. In addition to sitework the project included construction of offsite utilities and reconstruction of Okemos Road in the vicinity of the headquarters campus.
Established in 1947, Hoffman Bros., Inc. began when brothers Ed and Hollis Hoffman purchased a bulldozer and dump truck to take advantage of the post-World War II construction boom. Hollis ran the bulldozer and Ed ran the dump truck digging basements and grading driveways around the Battle Creek area.
At Hoffman Bros., Inc. we adhere strictly to a comprehensive safety program which includes daily pre-task planning, jobsite hazard assessments, weekly toolbox talks and annual industry specific safety training for all employees. All employees maintain OSHA 10 hour training certification while all foreman and superintendents maintain OSHA 30 hour training certification.
At Hoffman Bros. we have embraced the use of technology throughout the business. Computer systems, cloud technology, telematics and global positioning systems are found throughout our operations. I have never seen a bigger circus for road construction in my life. Living on a dead end street and the route to gets changed by the minute!! When explaining where I needed to go I get told I was in the wrong for driving through a barricade only to tell me I needed to come from a road with a barricade. Jamie the supervisor was rude and unprofessional!! This in not to mention the cheap labor they sub all the work out to and just leave a clueless supervisor in charge. Thinking about having them do any work I would think again.

I've never personally used you but your company is working on redoing our roads here in Lansing in Miller road. I spoke to Gator and Jason this morning .im from the Kalamazoo area found out gator lives near where I grow up and Jason live near where I went to school both did.. But I want to say thank you for the long hours hard work that you have put into this road. I have lived on this road for 30yrs and it's needed more than patch work. Thanks. God bless

The City of Kalamazoo contracted Hoffman Brothers to repave our street, and replace the water & sewer lines as well. It's been well over a month now, and the end of this project is nowhere in sight. After digging half of the street up once to replace the sewer lines, they then buried everything, didn't return for over a week, then eventually re-dug the same holes to replace the water lines that they apparently forgot about. During all of this our yard was turned into a storage site for all of their equipment & supplies, making it an even bigger pain in the neck to get into and out of our home.

I hope nobody who reads this is unlucky enough to have Hoffman Brothers contracted to work on their street. I've personally witnessed hours and hours of nothing being done at all in good weather, or having 1-2 guys working on the project while leaving our houses completely inaccessible. No wonder redoing the road on my block will take literally 18 weeks. They tore up my driveway entry without so much as a knock on the door, leaving my car stranded in my driveway and forcing me to take a 30$ Uber ride to work, and back. They just left for the day without making my driveway accessible because screw
