In April of 2019 Erpelding Excavating had the opportunity to rent Hawkeye Community College's Heavy Equipment Simulator Truck & make it available for area high school students at the Iowa Lakes Community College Career Day in Emmetsburg, IA. The truck has road grader, backhoe, excavator & dozer simulators.
Students were able to sit in a seat that looks, feels & moves like it would in real life, use controls just like an actual machine & perform a 4-5 minute task on a screen. It was like a video game to give the kids an idea of what we do on a daily basis. Erpelding Excavating strongly believes that the construction industry is an important one & it's a great way to make a living.
We wanted to share that with some of these area kids as they consider their future! What a fun day - thank you to Hawkeye Community College for renting the trailer to us, Reutzel Excavating for co-sponsoring, Iowa Lakes Community College & the local high schools for making this day possible!
