In a fire, every second counts. Properly installed firestop assemblies protect you by reducing the spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases. Buildings are designed with fire-rated walls to minimize the spread of fire, giving you extra time to get out of the building. When a contractor has to cut a hole in the wall for pipes, electrical conduit or boxes, the wall loses its fire resistance.
Hospital accreditation standards and life safety precautions make healthcare construction projects much more complicated. Drywall installation becomes a crucial part of the equation with multiple through-penetrations from life safety equipment. The American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) has set the standard for excellence in the healthcare industry.
