Services
Birchtree Gallery & Framing and Northern Lights Stained Glass Studio is the studio and home of unique works of art by Al & Cheryl Wentzell (owners) and other artists in Watertown, South Dakota. We are located at 117 E. Kemp Avenue (between the Blossom Shoppe and Ultimate Kicks).
Laura has been involved in the visual arts for most of her life, as a teacher of the visual arts in Illinois (6 years) and South Dakota (since 1976), as an artist, and as a strong advocate for the visual arts. Until retirement from public education Laura had been involved with the National Art Education Association since college.
We provide custom framing and matting services for pictures, paintings, and other works of art. We have the best pricing in northeast South Dakota and the Watertown, South Dakota, area. We can also make shadow boxes for collectibles and memorabilia. Cost will be determined by the type and amount of material used for the frame, whether there are mats, etc., so it would be best to stop in and get a quote in person.
Northern Lights is an independent family art glass studio and educational center located in the Northern Plains of South Dakota since 1995. Al and Cheryl relocated their studio from Southern California. They were drawn to the lifestyle in the northern plains and fell in love with the prairies and the quality of life, where everyone is a friend or a neighbor.
An intro to the aesthetics, techniques, and the historical aspects of Painting will be discussed. We will then use oil color/watercolor to explore, basic design, Color, and composition on a two dimensional surface. Color theory is closely examined in all aspects as to how it relates to visual composition.

I’ve tried to go here the last three days and they are never open! How are you supposed to do business if you’re closed?
