Services
Mason City native, husband and father of six children, Kevin is a graduate of University of Northern Iowa, where he majored in Business Management with an emphasis on supply chain and operations management. In 2002, he founded The Cutting Edge Tree Service, serving the Des Moines metro area and surrounding communities out of Ames, Iowa.
Cutting Edge Tree Services and Arbor Master are proud to call ourselves "stewards of the earth." Not only do we care for the trees we work on as resources, we continually make efforts to better conserve the resources we use to do business in the tree care industry. Although tree service is a green industry by nature, not all tree services work toward sustainability through resource management.
The whole job was a success to me, from the removing of the trees, the stumps, filling in with dirt, planting of the new tree, trimming the other tree to the cleanup. You did an amazing job, and in record time. You have a hard working crew. Rarely at a loss for words I am struggling to express the depth of my gratitude to Kevin for taking immediate action to safely remove a tree at our house.
Timing is crucial when it comes to trimming your trees and shrubs. Oak and Elm trees in Iowa should be trimmed sometime during the dormant season to prevent the spread of fungal infection through fresh wounds. Insects are also known to aid in transmitting the pathogens that cause Oak Wilt and Dutch Elm Disease.
Crown Raising is trimming to raise clearance of low lying limbs from ground, buildings or utility lines. The needs of the individual may vary, though there are ideal heights for each situation we that we recommend. 6-10 ft of clearance over buildings or structures helps keep appearances sharp while protecting your property from possible damage in a severe weather event.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value
Jesse Fox, Sales and Service Manager, transplanted a magnolia tree from my old house to my new house. The tree had sentimental value and it’s thriving nicely! He and his team also have been saving my ash tree from the Emerald Ash Borer. I would recommend him to anyone!
