My journey as a builder began as I boy. I was always taking things apart to see how they worked and building projects in the basement or garage. I could not have enough Tinker Toys! Even now, the rich smell of pine wood sawdust takes me back to my childhood. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Ohio University and learned welding, ceramics, and metal casting.
My 35+ years of experience in the home repair business enables me to offer a wide range of interior home repairs and handyman services. There's pretty much no problem that I haven't seen and been able to come up with a solution for. Plus, I am constantly learning new skills and techniques and keeping current on the latest trends and styles.
Do you have an opening that currently doesn't have a door that you would like to close off?. Sometimes a conventional hinged door just won't work in the space allowed. Barn doors provide a great solution for separating two spaces with a sliding door without the need for an expensive and often impractical pocket door installation.
I provide expert drywall repair in Durham, NC. Really good drywall repair is an art and I don't mind saying that I am a drywall repair artist! Over the years I have developed techniques and skills that enable me to create truly invisible repairs to drywall walls and ceilings. I use vacuum sanding to virtually eliminate all the messy dust and the results are truly amazing; no lumps, bumps, or sanding scratches.
I don't have a secretary or call service. When you call, text, or email Fixify Home Repair, I'll be the one that you reach and who will respond to you. I am almost always in the field, either driving or helping out a busy homeowner, so it's not always possible or safe for me to answer calls or respond to texts right away.

I am going to be working with Kevin again in the near future. He was responsive and punctual. There was no phone tag, there was none of the other nonsense that you run into with contractors. Bottom line is he does great work, displays amazing communication, is reliable, and will be on the job when he says so.

Kevin did a great job at repairing my door frame that got wrecked during a burglary - and it's now the best functioning door in the whole house. No creaks, no gaps, slides shut perfectly, no force to turn the deadbolt or get it to latch. Door is super solid now. It was also immediately put to the test when they came back the week after and tried to kick it in again. No damage done, held great - the only problem is that they decided to break and go through my windows instead. :| (Had video this time and they have been arrested).

Kevin helped us with removing our coffin style shower from the 70s and installing a new wider tile shower. His communication was great through the process, he anticipated any questions that we could potentially have and addressed them accordingly. He also walked us through the process of picking out the tile walls and floor as we had very little knowledge of the subject. His initial budget assessment for the job was on par for what the final bill came out to be. When comparing his pricing to the chain stores he definitely comes out on top. Kevin and his son did a thorough job in recreating a custom cabinet for under our sink, a fairly complicated job. He took the time to ensure that the different working parts in and around the sink (electrical, plumbing) were properly up to code and safe. He came up with creative solutions to fit the space that is original to the 1970s. He was also open to shared decision making for the project, including plumbing, cabinet structure and wood type, that ultimately led to a cabinet to our liking. Kevin was also prompt with responding to my inquiry. He was further flexible with time for the project

Kevin is fantastic! He is reliable, professional and kind. We have had Kevin do several things around our place, including re-decking our front porch, securing our front porch supports, and fixing some of our back porch too. We also have consulted Kevin's infinite wisdom on other projects we want to do on our home. He is a wealth of knowledge, very experienced, and really knows what he is doing!
