Walnut Creek Glass was founded in 1990 when Wyman Wengerd set up shop in the family garage to cut glass for the local furniture industry. In a few years as the local support increased and the business grew, Wyman quit his job at Schrock's Woodcraft. In order to increase production, he purchased an Edger to polish the edges of glass shelving and mirrors.

In 1993 Wyman's son Bryan finished school and Wyman thought he needed to provide something for him to do, so he bought the first manual Beveling machine. At the same time he decided to remodel the old chicken house so they would have more room. The Week after Bryan graduated the 8th grade, the technician was there to train him to operate the Beveler.

Through some growing pains, great friendships, and loyal customers the decision was made in 1999 to build a larger facility. A used Straight Line Beveling machine was bought over the phone at an auction in Texas for a fraction of the cost of a new one, which is what spurred the new construction project.
Services
Below you are able to view the many different glass textures that we offer. We carry inventory of the textures shown here and are able to provide short lead times on most products. We have a relationship with a vast majority of distributors and manufacturers and are able to special order nearly any texture on the U.S market.
Art glass is used for many different decorative purposes like stained glass windows, lights, cabinetry, room dividers and is only limited to your creative ideas. Art Glass is manufactured by several U.S. companies like Spectrum, Wissmach, Kokomo, Bullseye, and is also imported from Europe. The art glass industry production is more manual than the larger mass-produced glass.
Our engraving is done through the process of carving into the surface of the glass using the sandblasting method. We use a fine grit aluminum oxide to achieve a high quality consistent finish. Our stencils are made with a high quality Photoresist which allows us to achieve great detail and can reproduce virtually any graphics.
Mirrors are manufactured using high quality float glass. After cleaning with a cerium oxide cleaning solution a thin layer of silver (silver nitrate) is applied using a chemical bonding process. After that a layer of copper is applied to separate the silver from the two coats of paint that are sprayed on last to give it a durable and strong backer.
Tinted Glass can offer privacy and beauty to your home and have additional value and provide energy savings by reducing the amount of light transmittance and solar heat gain. Applications such as your windows or shower doors to cabinets and furniture. It also has many Commercial applications like storefront or office partitions.
