The kitchen is the heart of the home, and is the part of the home that depends most equally on technical functionality and aesthetic beauty to work. Bathrooms should be a private space that feels comfortable and beautiful. Tile often is a beautiful and functional accent, and the lighting and fittings are the jewelry of the room.
The clients love their 1930 home, but did not love the cultured marble, and fluorescent lights added in the 1960s. Careful attention to detail brought in updated vintage charm. Living areas are the most expressive rooms in the house. Furniture, fabrics, lighting, flooring and accents should all come together to create the welcome and beauty that make you comfortable in your home.
Having many carefully thought out details in a home add up to a space that gives an over all impression of unity and comfort. I call them little moments of beauty.

I have been an interior designer for 14 years, and an Airbnb hostess for 7. Since becoming a hostess, I also have used Aibnb and VRBO a fair amount for travel. One thing I have noticed is that when I am creating, or choosing a rental space, I am looking for really different things than when I am working with a client.
I truly believe that every room needs a touch that shows the hand of the #maker. I spent 15 years designing textiles, and respect the weavers, the block printers, the screen printers, and in this case the hand embroiderers that create #fabrics. Why settle for boring when there is such beauty out there.

Kirsten has worked with us for years. My husband and I knew we wanted to redecorate but always got overwhelmed at the prospect. Kirsten started us out by helping us create an idea book, then magically came up with a color palette and design style we loved. She was able to work within a budget, and specializes in sustainable design. We've used her through the years to redecorate our living room, draw up a layout for a new bathroom, design a new family room, and draw up a set of wall shelves. We've recommended Kirsten to various friends and they've all been happy.

I met Kirsten through a friend; she was remodeling her kitchen. Kirsten has the best taste and vision!!! I am a perfectionist and I always want feedback as I decorate. Working with Kirsten has provided me with the best recourse to fulfill this need. Not only does she have high end design talents, but she is a joy to work with and a really nice person. In particular she picked out the perfect paint color for my home and when I did a major remodel of my bath and hallway; she perfectly told the carpenter where exactly each wall and door should be placed. I also value her sustainability outlook. In

We used Kirsten for our kitchen remodel. Every penny we paid her was worth it, as the functionality of our kitchen is incredible, the space looks amazing, and the vast majority of the materials are green. Kirsten's knowledge also helped us decide when it was worth the money (and our health) to go green and when the pay offs might not be worth it. I always felt like Kirsten listened to what both my husband and I were saying, so the space really does reflect our desires, not her vision. I won't even consider looking elsewhere for our next home remodel project.

Kirsten of Sustainable Home provided very valuable design assistance with two remodeling projects. First, when remodeling our house, Kirsten came up with a very creative floor plan to add a second bathroom into the existing footprint of our small house. She assisted us with choosing fabulous materials for the bathrooms and kitchen. One the second project, she helped us with the design of the conversion of our garage into a studio with bathroom and kitchenette area.
In both projects, she listened to our goals, and helped us to clarify and achieve them. She understood that we didn't

I've used Kirsten's design services in two houses that I've owned, and she has helped me update my style as well as purchase needed furniture and window coverings. I am not sure I could work with another designer. Kirsten listens to me, and I always feel that the result will reflect my preferences and style, and fit in my budget. She always asks me how I use the space we are redesigning, so that the solution she creates has needed storage or seating and will work as a functional part of my home. I love her taste, and how she helped my home look both personal, polished and stylish

I am a green building general contractor and have know Kirsten for years but have never worked with her. Recently, we got a chance work together on a project and I was really happy we did. The job was a kitchen, living area remodel and she did a fantastic job and was a real pleasure to work with. The final product looked great but, more importantly, it was exactly what the client wanted. The materials were well thought out, not only for their aesthetic characteristics, but also for their durability, indoor air quality and sustainability aspects. Nobody in the industry cares more about indoor
