When the first presidential debate was held in Miami, we set out to learn more about the 2020 candidates, but made a startling discovery: none of their websites were accessible to low-vision or blind users. Our ADA Compliance Meter report not only garnered national attention, it created lasting change.
Our IT experts, who are also blind themselves, worked with the Biden campaign to ensure their website was designed in a way for all to access and now the new administration has already revamped Whitehouse.gov incorporating our previous counsel and recommended changes. Learn more about our website accessibility audit services here.
Miami Lighthouse for the Blind is committed to providing a fully accessible website experience. Miami Lighthouse is AER accredited distinguishing that an agency or school operates at the highest level of quality and is positioned to generate the outcomes needed by the clients. Miami Lighthouse received the prestigious 2020 award for "Best in Nonprofit" campaign by PRWeek referred to as the "Oscars of the PR industry".

My experience at the Miami Lighthouse has been the best! First I would like to thank Corrina for making me feel so welcomed and at home. Then I would like to thank the best instructor at the lighthouse who is Jin Choi because of his professionalism and dedication to clients. He has by far made this the best experience I have had at the light house. I would also like to thank Karima, Reinaldo, and Fionna for always being there to guide me and help me everything when I was in need. Thank all of you guys so much for everything you have done for me (:

This is the absolute worst place I have ever been to. I took my baby 6 months ago. They showed me the place. Everyone seemed nice at the time. Took them months to come evaluate him. Its been a month he was to begin therapy at home. The very first time the therapist called out then after that she never called again or ever came again after saying she would come Thursday’s at 9am. Now they leave me a voicemail saying come for a fun class at the center. The nerve!!!!

The best place I've ever worked for.
I've been working for the Lighthouse for many years. This is a place of excellence.
The Lighthouse equally welcomes and treats everyone with respect and cordiality. Blind and visually-impaired clients are able to re-gain independence in their lives. Many have been able to go back to work.

I have worked for Miami Lighthouse (a private institution) for the past 6 years as the Senior Case Manager and I am in awe of the measures Miami Lighthouse takes to protect its clients and their families. Our organization provides services to babies, children, teenagers, young adults and seniors who are blind or visually impaired. The safety of our clients and families is our number one priority and we strive to take every measure to ensure both the privacy and safety of all clients who visit our facility is taken. Our goal every single day is that our clients become more independent and reach

It is so hard now a days to find a place with excellent customer service, the Miami lighthouse has an amazing group of individual willing to go above and beyond to help each and everyone that walks in through their doors. I met with John and Priscila at the Solution store and they were able to help me and my grandmother find a device that helped her read better. We are so appreciative of the patience they had with us and the hard work they put in to make sure she found what she was looking for. Thank you so much! Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for anything in the low vision market

The Miami Lighthouse Leaning Center has been a blessing for our family. My daughter started at 16 months old and since day one we felt it was the right decision. The teachers are loving and caring and the whole staff is always there for us. She is enrolled in the toddler class and we plan on keeping Adriana there as long as possible. This is a great school for all kids, visually impaired or not.

I have no words to thank the endless attention everyone had with my mother, from the minute we walked in until we got back into the car. She was initially telling me on the way there how she didnt want to go, why I got her out of the house.. basically she was only going since my cousin had set it up for her.
On the way back, she said she felt at home. She is looking forward to go again. The Doctor, Raquel etc where so helpful. And now she has some hope as she can read a bit with a special magnifier and will be getting books she can hear (reading was her number one hobby).

Miami Lighthouse for the Blind has changed the lives of us and our daughter. Without their support and constant encouragement, raising an infant who is visually impaired would be be overwhelming, scary and clouded with sadness. Instead, our family feels privileged to be able to be a part of this incredible organization, thanks to our daughter. She is currently enrolled at the school and has participated in the infant programs - the effort and individual attention they provide to the families and students goes beyond any individual job description or salary- their drive comes solely from their passion

Miami Lighthouse for the Blind became a sanctuary for blind and visually impaired seniors during Hurricane Irma. Many had no food, power or A/C and Miami Lighthouse helped them get back on their feet. The facility is beautiful and recently expanded located just outside the Brickell neighborhood in a quaint area off 8th Avenue and 7th Street.

My experience as an employee at the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind has been extraordinary and I feel in my heart that I must share with others what a wonderful place the Lighthouse is. In 1990 I visited the Lighthouse out of curiosity and I fell in love with the place instantly it impacted me so much that I decided to apply for a job and within two weeks I was working as an Instructor in the Educational Services Department. I strongly believed in the mission of the Lighthouse it always did what it was meant to do rehabilitate the blind and visually impaired. I learned at the Lighthouse to give

The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind is celebrating 85 years of hope, confidence and independence. I have had the honor and the privilege of being in contact with them for over 12 years. I can say without hesitation that the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind has been an example of service, dedication and commitment for our community. I have seen for years the way in which they have helped thousands of blind and visually impaired people in our community to receive vision rehabilitation, eye health services, education and training to make them more independent and have a better future.

This is a great environment for the visually impaired. It's not in the greatest of neighborhoods, but once you're inside the building and garden you forget about the outside. I attended the Music Under The Stars: Bon Appetit Miami Fundraiser. There was a huge silent auction, great food and drinks from several different restaurants, and a dessert bar! There was also a few visually impaired patrons of the Lighthouse playing instruments and chatting with the visitors. All in all it was a great night and I can't wait for next years event. :)
