Closed-cell sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) is composed of two liquid components - isocyanate and a resin (or polyol) - that are pumped from separate containers and mixed in the nozzle of a spray gun at a 1-to-1 ratio. Upon combining them, a chemical reaction takes place and the mixture expands 20 or 30 times to form a solid, lightweight, monolithic closed-cell mass.
Acrylic elastomeric roof coatings refer to a liquid-applied monolithic (seamless), fully adhered, elastomeric membrane that is formed in situ on the roof. These coatings are applied 5 to 10 times thicker than house paint. Acrylic polymers for roof applications have been engineered that are specifically for commercial roof coatings.
Standing seam commercial roofing is composed of preformed or field formed pans, usually about 18 to 24 inches wide when finished. These pans run parallel to the slope of the roof, and are joined to adjacent pans with double lock standing seams. When performed pans are used, they are joined at their upper and lower ends by transverse seams.
