We install new wood flooring in existing homes and in new construction. A majority of our work takes place in existing homes, adding new wood floors in remodeling projects and/or refinishing existing wood floors. We are expert at matching new hardwood floors to existing wood floors, matching the wood type, color, and grain of the existing floor so that little or no sign of transition is visible.
Great Indoors Wood Floors has been refinishing wood floors in the Indianapolis area since 1994. We have refinished thousands of hardwood floors and have an excellent reputation for doing fine work in a timely manner, and being fair and equitable with our customers. We resolve any issues that may arise with customer satisfaction as our goal.
With badly damaged sections of hardwood floor, new wood can be cut to fit and then refinished to match the surrounding wood foor. For smaller blemishes such as small gouges and drill holes, we use an epoxy wood filler and then "paint" the epoxy to match the wood color and grain. Heavily worn areas such as primary traffic routes can sometimes be improved drastically using our Deep Cleaning system.
If your wood floors are in reasonably good condition, with only light wear and surface scratches, we can deep-clean the hardwood, then lightly sand the surface of the polyurethane (to roughen it up for adhesion) and recoat your floor with a new topcoat of water-based polyurethane. This will make your floor look like new and avoid the major project of sanding your floors down to raw wood, and then re-staining and re-coating your floors.
Whitewashing wood floors is a method of muting the color of hardwood floors. By painting a color of stain onto the freshly-sanded wood floor, and then wiping it away quickly before it dries, a subtle trace of the color is left in the wood grain, giving the floor a muted look with just a hint of color.
