All traditional rigid foam hot tub covers will end up saturated or broken. It's not you, it's them. Bad enough on a regular size hot tub, on a Swim Spa a Heavy covers can be downright dangerous. That's why SpaCap swim spa covers were designed. Rain is not what makes the foam heavy. It's the steam coming off the hot tub water under it.

The steam works into the foam and then condenses. The water molecules are bigger and get trapped. The swim spa covers slowly get heavy. It doesn't matter how thick or how slanted the foam is. If it was the rain that made the covers heavy putting a roof over the hot tub would keep the spa covers from getting heavy.

At SpaCap.com we build Hot Tub Covers and Swim Spa Covers that are lightweight, easy to use and built to stay that way. Even on larger swim spas most women can remove our swim spa covers with one hand. Imagine how much more you would use you spa if you didn't dread wrestling heavy spa covers.
Services
Why would you buy a different kind of hot tub cover than the one your spa came with? Because Every traditional foam-filled hot tub cover is going to end up the same as the one you need to replace right now! No matter how big the taper, no matter what the foam is wrapped in, no matter how it is reinforced, Every Foam Hot Tub Cover WILL end up saturated, heavy or broken.
We are also the only spa cover that uses Sunbrella marine grade fabric. Where other spa covers utilize vinyl from China rated by hours outdoors, Sunbrella is Made in the USA and rated by years outdoors. SpaCap Swim Spa Covers tend to last ten to twelve years, still lightweight and easy to use. That's about five times longer than most foams filled spa covers.
Short answer: Yes, only better. Long answer: When we were designing the original spa cover, we were mainly concerned with making it easy to use. The first covers we built had a thin layer of closed-cell foam about a quarter-inch thick that actually insulated as well as the typical rigid foam covers regardless of how thick their foam was.
For hot tubs up to 96" x 96" our prices start at $595.00 plus options and shipping. The outer fabric is Marine Grade Sunbrella in any of the more than 100 colors it is offered in. The reason we use Sunbrella is that it is rated by YEARS outdoors rather than HOURS like vinyl. The SpaCap Premium gives you your choice of over 100 Marine Grade Sunbrella colors.

Purchased about 2 years ago. Solid concept, poorly executed. Like so many other reviews, the air chambers filled with water making it heavy and hard to move. The edges of the cover at the bottom grew slimy green gunk that got in the hot tub Everytime the cover was removed. The bottom that touches the water became brittle and stuff. I just cut into pieces to throw it away and there was easily 3 gallons of water inside.
Wish this was great, but it just isn't.

The worst company I've dealt with in recent memory. The concept of their product is solid, but the execution is absolutely terrible. If you need a business idea, PLEASE start a business to put these guys out of business. My $500+ cover that I bought just a couple of years ago has failed. The bottom of the cover, that makes direct contact with the water is a vulcanized rubber. As the cover is taken on and off the material bends and obviously goes through extreme temperature changes from 105 degrees, to maybe freezing if you're tubbing in the snow (when the cover is off the tub in the cold

Crappiest hot tub cover ever; does NOT outlast the others, the membrane fails and it fills with water, the customer service S U C K S (supposedly I was speaking with the owner.... 'Jeff' via chat), they have no suggestions other than to drain it and maybe put one of those solar bubble covers on it before the water-logged air bag of theirs..... And it stinks! It is very mildewy smelling and takes away the enjoyment of tubbing. I'm going back to a traditional cover now that they make them tapered. Do NOT spend your money here; it is all custom and wayyyyy more expensive for the same

Not a happy customer...I would NOT buy a Spa Cap. I used mine for 3 years and it started to take in water. I sent it to them for evaluation and they told me the cap is not repairable. They state there are cracks that are taking in water which they said is my fault due to adding too many chemicals to the spa. I religiously check my ph levels weekly, only adding chemicals when the ph is off. Who wants to sit in a tub of water full of chemicals? Our philosophy is less is better. I asked Marlis Sliger, "so basically what you are telling me is that I am S.O.L.?" She responded, "yup."
