Jim Carpenter Company was founded in 1955 by James P. Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter saw a need in the Fredericksburg area for a full service lumberyard. The company grew and moved to its current location at 1 Joseph Mills Drive in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Lester Group was established in 1896 by G.T. Lester in Martinsville, Virginia.

Jim Carpenter Company handles a broad selection of wood, fiberglass and steel exterior doors, including full and 3/4 glass with interior grids, with side lites and a full line of patio doors. We also have an extensive showroom to help you pick your next exterior door. We have everything from mahogany and knotty alder wood doors to fiberglass and steel doors with and without glass.

I have been using Jim Carpenter for years for lumber, decking, doors, and windows. My experience has always been positive. A lot of their lumber is kept under roof so it will be in good shape when picked up. The sales people (I've worked with Jamie Rose and Jason Canter) are knowledgeable and the yard staff and delivery drivers are helpful and courteous.
