Based on 2012-2016 national averages: The leading factor contributing to home heating fires (27%) was failure to clean, principally from solid-fueled heating equipment, primarily chimneys. The National Fire Protection Association and the Chimney Safety Institute of America recommend an annual chimney inspection to alert you to potential problems before they become costly and dangerous.
To care for your chimney properly, it's important to know how the chimney works. Knowing how your chimney works will at least help you stay safe and use the chimney properly. A chimney works under the premise that hot air rises because it's less dense than cold air. When you fill your chimney with fire, the hot gas will rise.
A fireplace insert modifies a traditional masonry fireplace to increase its efficiency. These are specifically designed to contain heat safely, without transferring heat into the stonework and directing it instead to the surrounding room. Fireplace inserts are specially reinforced fireboxes with durable steel coverings, although other heat efficient materials may also be used.
In Delaware, a master plumber is required to install all gas venting and gas appliances including fireplaces. Electric fireplace inserts are similar to wood or natural gas-fueled fireplace inserts, although easier to install and maintain. These are boxes designed to simulate the appearance of a traditional wood-burning fire but use electricity to produce heat instead. Rather than adding in fuel, you simply plug the electric fireplace insert into a suitable outlet.

Fabulous sales and service. We had a pellet stove (photo) installed in our living room and electric fireplace in the basement. TFS was able to source and install in a few weeks. When we thought we had a problem with operations, the owner came out the same day (our operator error). With all the challenges of COVID, supply chains and the growth in Delmarva, TFS exceeded my expectations.

Bill, the technician, was prompt and thoroughly professional. Time with him is a mini master class on how (and even when) to use your fireplace.
Bill saved me hundreds of dollars that I intended to spend...until I talked to him. He even found my prefab fireplace manual online and texted the link to me.
I couldn't have asked for a better inspector and intend to use That Fireplace exclusively in the future.

We were having an existing wood burning fireplace check for safety issue and a possible switch to gas. Our technician was thorough. His advice was stellar and at the close of call, he stated that we would not be billed as the inspection was all that was needed and was part of their service for estimating.
We were pleasantly surprised to say the least and they are our go-to for any future conversion!

Well, what can I say, other than these are the only people that said what they would do and then over-performed in every aspect of the job. Perfectly professional, knowledgeable people in every detail from sales to installation to follow up, along with recommendations for every aspect of the project.
Oh, did I mention how clean they managed to keep things ...with an absolutely totally dirty job ahead of them. My living room now has a beautiful pellet stove in my fireplace and they even managed to make it look better than it was before they started.

Long story as short as possible:
We moved into a house that already had a pellet stove. Turns out our stove was very old and not well maintained. Bill and his staff not only diagnosed what had happened to the old stove, but gave us an excellent deal on an awesome new stove and then INSTALLED IT! They even cleaned the existing exhaust pipes! They were friendly, cost effective, punctual and professional. My wife is even happy, and she is a tough customer.
I would never go anywhere else! A++++++
