Hawthorn Masonry
Starting in 1996, Scott has been in business for over 20 years, building in stone and brick or tile, everything from fireplaces, chimneys and retaining walls to historic restorations and tuck pointing. Specializing in the local limestone of Northeast Iowa, we work on projects spanning new construction to 19th century restorations. Utilising old world craftsmanship and time honored stone masonry skills.
Services
Specializing in the local limestone has allowed us to be involved in every aspect of masonry, new and old. We have laid tile and natural stone floors and then gone on to erect a chimney. We re-tuck point mortar in an old house or barn foundation and build new fireplaces. The major distinctions seem to be whether we are using mortar (cladding a house in stone) or dry-stone construction, as in building retaining walls or patios.
Materials for a project can vary from two or three products to scores of items. Depending on the size and scope of your project, you should be prepared to be able to choose from the many products available. The selections of Stone range from county to county, yet can be shipped many miles to suit the needs of your project.

Scott is one of the most talented artists I know. His motif just happens to be stone and brick. If you've ever seen the epic gazebo in downtown Decorah, you know his work. It's unbelievable that we have stonemason of his caliber within 1,000 miles of us.
