Thank you for visiting All Around Home Improvements online. We hope you enjoy learning more about our family-owned business and how we can help with your old house restoration and home improvement projects. Our Elgin, Illinois-based historic restoration and home remodeling business was established in 1995 and more than 90 percent of our work is on historic homes in the Elgin area.

Our work was recognized with a City of Elgin Mayor's Award - the Artisan's Award for historic restoration. Both of our personal residences were recognized with City of Elgin historic plaques and both were featured on the annual Gifford Park Association Elgin Historic House Tour. We live and work in Elgin and as such, we have a personal stake in the city of Elgin - it's not just our livelihood, it's our neighborhood.
Services
All Around Home Improvements is owned and operated by Scott Savel, an award-winning restoration contractor with expertise in management of historic residential projects specializing in custom carpentry. Scott is a hands-on craftsman and manager on all projects, responsible for conducting estimates, writing contracts, setting budgets, schedule planning, purchasing, billing and managing employees and sub-contractors.
All Around Home Improvements does specialize in old house restoration; however, we have also remodeled many kitchens, baths and basements for our satisfied customers. We have also created many "outdoor rooms, " designing and building one-of-a-kind decks so our customers can enjoy their great outdoors.

We are delighted with all three of the large projects All Around Home Improvements has completed on our 1894 Queen Anne: a porch restoration, a complete window replacement and a gut rehab of an old bathroom. Scott Savel is an able and thorough craftsman who deals calmly with the "surprises" an old house frequently holds and works meticulously to restore old details. Most of all, I'm impressed by the intelligence and enthusiasm he brings to his art. For example, he worked from a faint shadow on our front siding to reproduce the embellishments on the porch posts that existed when our house was built
