Tatum Asphalt
Tatum Asphalt has been serving the paving needs of the Central Coast of CA since 2012. While we are a "young" company we have over 50 years combined paving experience behind us. Our goal is to continuously deliver a quality professional service at a competitive price. We recognize that each job site is unique and requires extra effort to complete it the right way.

We are happy to walk you through the paving process, step by step, so we can complete the job right the first time. As our name suggests, we specialize in asphalt and all that goes with it, installation of new asphalt and repair of existing asphalt pavement. We work throughout SLO County and northern Santa Barbara County.

Our company is equipped to handle any pre-paving site work that may be required, as well as pavement marking, seal coating, pavement repair and rehabilitation. Small or large-scale. We look forward to hearing from you!
Services
Tatum Asphalt is locally owned by Billy Tatum and family operated. Our company has been serving the Central Coast of CA since 2012. With over 15 years of experience behind his belt and knowledge gained from working for another local grading and paving outfit Billy decided to make the leap to start out on his own.
Billy exceeded my expectations at each step of the process. He gave a rapid estimate. He was able to do patch repairs sooner than estimated and he fixed the underlying problem. Tatum was prompt, fairly priced, and did a very tidy job. I would hire them again and I would recommend them to anyone. Very good work.
Asphalt is made from 95% aggregate (stones, sand, and gravel) and held together by asphalt cement. The asphalt cement is heated, combined and mixed with the aggregate at a hot mix asphalt facility. The hot mix asphalt (AC) is then loaded into trucks for transport to the paving site to be installed.
What are the advantages of asphalt over concrete? Asphalt is most times more cost effective than concrete to install, and less expensive to repair. It usually does not need to be removed, it can easily be resurfaced. Asphalt is designed to flex with hot and cold weather as well as slight settlements.

Top notch crew.  From ownership and boots on the pavement, to office staff and everyone in between, we can't say enough good things.  We have a long (1000 ft) rugged driveway that previously had lots of issues in poor weather, and was nearly impassable to an average car, but Billy and crew rehabbed it in no time and now we have a beautiful private road that is a pleasure to drive.  For all your asphalt needs, look no further:  Tatum is the way to go.

I have a rental property in San Luis Obispo that needed some ashpalt replacement and repair. Bill, from Tatum Asphalt came out to look over the job and provide me with an estimate. There was a portion of the driveway that needed a total replacement, but Bill honestly told me the remainder of the driveway wasn't bad enough to warrant a total replacement and that a new coat of sealer would be sufficient. Billy, the owner of Tatum Asphalt showed up on the day of the job, with his crew, and they all worked seamlessly with everyone busy doing their particular jobs on the site. There are several steps

My wife and I manage a storage facility and we needed our parking lots and entry into the facility repaired and coated. We hired Tatum Asphalt to do the job. The price was good, the crew was friendly, and the job was completed on time and turned out better than we expected. We certainly recommend them.

We had our asphalt sealed and their crew did a wonderful job. They were on time, worked efficiently, and left the jobsite clean when they left. I highly recommend this company!
