Firewood, Cooking Wood, Hickory Chips and Chunks, and Cedar Grilling Planks are a natural byproduct of our milling process, so we are able to offer you "straight from the mill" prices with no middle man involved. Services
Founded in 1996 by Charles Ledbetter, Antoine Hardwoods is a sawmill and chip mill producing hardwood and pine chips to various paper mills in the area. We also produce hardwood cants, crossties, and rough sawn lumber to flooring manufacturers and railroad contractors. As a natural complement to these product lines, we recently began producing firewood in bundles and cooking woods, such as smoking chips, chunks and planks in various hardwoods.
How to use our Smoking Woods and Cooking Planks Grilling with wood may just be the easiest way to becoming a "gourmet" chef since man first tasted meat cooked with fire. Cooking with wood brings back that unmistakable flavor of the wide open range, a deep woods campsite or fire pit at the shore. It is a fun and flavorful first step to a great dining and entertaining experience.
You don't want the plank to burn up before the food is cooked. Submerge them for about 2+ hrs. Longer is okay! You'll need less soaking time for fish and more for other meats that require a longer cooking time. For fish, you can soak less time and put the plank directly on the hot BBQ grill. For Beef, chicken and Pork, soak the planks at least 2 hrs and put the planks onto a cookie sheet and then onto the grill.
