Take your kitchen cabinets from "Builder's Oak" to "Custom Quality" without the mess and expense of a full tearout. Outdated 'builder's oak' cabinets. Over the years you may have installed new hardware and even replaced the countertops, but the old cabinets are still there. What are your options? Undertake a major kitchen demo and start from scratch?
Paint the old cabinets? Unless the plan calls for a drastic change in the entire kitchen layout, it usually doesn't make sense to do a complete tearout and replacement of all the cabinetry. Tearouts mean plumbing, drywall and dust. Lots and lots of dust. As for painting, painted oak cabinets tend to look like, well, painted oak cabinets.
Usually, the best kitchen remodeling solution, from a time, money and efficiency perspective, is refacing the cabinetry with solid wood and replacing the doors and drawers. I learned the craft as a custom cabinet builder and developed a technique to reface cabinets with real, furniture-grade hardwoods - no veneers or laminates.

Services
To eliminate this problem, we install 3/16 thick solid wood on the outside cabinet surfaces. The end result is a cabinet that is virtually indistinguishable from new custom cabinetry. These cabinet frames will be covered with 3/16 thick solid cherry. We use precision woodworking equipment fitted with a dust collection system and all the cutting is done outside to keep any dust and noise away from the living area.
It usually takes 3-4 weeks to receive all the doors, drawers and components from our supplier in Wisconsin. Once we have the materials, most kitchens are completed in about a week. We come from a background of custom cabinet building, so it's no problem to add or modify a cabinet before refacing. If you'd like, we can replace the existing drawer boxes with hardwood, dovetailed-corner drawer boxes on full-extension drawer glides.
Years ago, I would often install pullout shelves in the lower cabinets to improve access. I still do that. But several years ago, a customer asked if I could turn their lower cabinets into drawers. That is, lose the cabinet doors completely and install full sized drawer boxes in their place - like dresser drawers.
Before you call or email - please be aware that we don't do any refinishing, painting, stripping or staining of cabinets. We replace doors, drawers and cover the existing cabinets with factory finished hardwoods. The process we use is a time-proven, long-term kitchen upgrade that adds value to your home.
