Roots and grease are the #1 cause of sewer system overflows (SSOs), creating havoc for system owners and residents. Problems such as I&I, decreased capacity, increased PM costs and unnecessary overtime and man-hours are common effects of systems that are left untreated. The best course of action is preventive care, ensuring your sewer pipes stay healthy and root-free.
Duke's guarantees to kill all the roots in every sewer we treat and to eliminate main line stoppages caused by live tree roots. If live roots are found in a sewer within six months after the application, or if a treated sewer plugs up and floods due to tree roots during the guaranteed period, we will re-treat that section, at our own expense, or remit to the customer 100% of the payment we received to treat that section of sewer.
In 2014 the EPA further lowered the signal word on Duke's diquat dibromide labels from "warning" to "caution." Its active ingredient, diquat dibromide has been used as an aquatic herbicide to control vegetation in ponds and kill algae for many years. With Razorooter, roots are killed on contact inside and outside sewer lines, and the foam penetrates through wye connections to kill roots in lateral lines.
Mechanical root removal involves physically cutting away roots. This can damage pipes and lead to thicker regrowth, often requiring more frequent cutting. Replacing or lining a pipe is expensive, can be disruptive and doesn't guarantee the thirsty roots won't find their way through the pipe once again.
