Under Young's guidance Pearl River Glass Studio has enjoyed steady growth and has established itself as one of the nation's largest and most highly acclaimed stained glass studios. Over the years Pearl River has been a leader in expanding the uses of stained glass beyond the religious presentation to include abstract as well as more realistic images for architectural installations.
As a result our varied list of clients include not only churches, but architects, designers and builders. In 1998, Pearl River Glass Studio, Inc. became an accredited member of the Stained Glass Association of America (SGAA). Founder Andrew Young recently finished his two year term as the association's president.
Pearl River Glass Studio turns 40 years old in 2015. In 1975, after returning home from college at LSU, Andrew Cary Young rented a one car garage behind an antique store in downtown Jackson. He ordered a crate of glass and a few boxes of lead and began as Andrew Young Design Services. The first window Young made is pictured to the left here.

Services
As part of our 40th year celebration, Pearl River Glass Studio will begin working on two prgs book publications. A time consuming process, but we will let you know as things progress. So many people along the way have made so many contributions in making Pearl River Glass Studio. Because you helped to make PRGS the success it is today, I want to thank you in person.
Contacting the studio is the first step in the commission process underway. If you speak to Melanie McKinley, our office manager, she will gather your contact information and find out from you what the nature of your project is. She will talk with you about the commissioning of art glass work. Please call the studio office at 601-353-2497 to discuss your project.
At PRGS, our guiding principle is the preservation of the ancient tradition of stained glass. We maintain the highest quality of craftsmanship and expertise in the various stained glass techniques. The basic steps of cartooning, glass cutting, leading and cementing are the same as practiced by stained glass craftsmen 1,000 years ago.

I have visited there often in the many years I have known the Youngs. Andrew Young, the founder and owner, has contributed riches to the spiritual aspects of his clients and, therefore, to his community with his contribution vastly more than the art he is commissioned to produce, as his studios have grown to be an excellent training ground for young artists apprenticed to him, in the fields of design and its many aspects, the practical side of executing the critical work, in many cases the associated architecture, and the discipline needed for projects' completion. It's a pretty amazing operation
