The Sun Viking entity has existed for well over a decade. In 1999, as Derek W. Starts earned his Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture and Environmental Design from Delaware Valley College, Derek started Sun Viking. From that day until now, Derek and the Sun Viking team have designed and installed landscapes of all shapes and sizes.

Your designer will meet with you at your home for a detailed discussion of your needs, preferences, and the scope and extent of your project. At this time a thorough analysis of current site conditions will be performed by the designer including existing landscaping, exposure, drainage, topography and more.
We are currently offering a "5 YEAR WARRANTY" on All Hardscape Installations, which includes all paver and block patios, driveways, retaining walls, walkways and steps!. The Sun Viking Land Design Team was great to work with from start to finish. They helped us solve a problem with an old brick patio and sloping issues. We had multiple companies come out to our house and Sun Viking was the only company that gave us a clear and complete picture of what we needed to do to solve our issue. We love our new patio and know who we will be using for any future landscape/hardscape projects.

Our old front walkway was a mess. The pavers were old and loose and the layout designed by the previous owners did not make sense for our family. We knew we needed new pavers and a new design, but we struggled with ideas. We had four companies come out in the spring to give us ideas and quotes. Derek was by far the most professional and provided us with ideas that we were excited about. He even followed up after our initial meeting by sending us some computer generated images to better visualize what we had discussed. My wife and I looked at about four other landscapers before deciding to go with Sun Viking Land Design. After we met with Derek (Owner) he clearly laid out exactly what he and his crew would do, how it would look, the time frame and cost! Let me say he accurately delivered! Dave (Crew foreman) is very talented in working with stone. He went the extra mile to make sure my wife and I were happy throughout the job. To anyone looking to have a beautiful stone patio installed in your backyard, you would be foolish to not call Sun Viking Land Design.

We hired Sun Viking in 2016 to regrade our back yard, lay a substantial paver patio, redo steps, sod and flower bed. Not only did the job get completed with amazing attention to detail - it's held up beautifully. Unfortunately, I've heard horror stories of friends/colleagues hiring a contractor to only have the paver patio shift/sink after months. Fast forward to 2019- we had Sun Viking Land Designs do our sizeable with many unknowns - degrading and unsafe porch. We requested a quote to update/replace our old brick steps and no one came close to what Sun Viking offered.
Not only did they update our steps but they did some additional work we weren't expecting which included rerouting our downspout which helped resolve a moisture issue in our basement.
Additionally, we've used their lawn services and have been completely happy. When Derek was by dropping off our invoice he noticed a barely loose step tile and stopped what he was doing to take it off and replace it.
You don't get service from many people like this anymore

Talk about top-notch work! Derek and the crew at Sun Viking recently installed a small patio in my backyard. My wife and I last minute decided to put a change on the crew and go with a different special order color. Derek moved mountains and worked with us to get the job done on time for a party we had last weekend. Total professionalism the entire length of the job. If you’re looking for outdoor work, patios, or all kinds of outdoor living. I highly recommend this crew. We needed to replace our crumbling front steps and loose hand rails. When I asked around for quotes, Sun Viking was by far the most responsive and professional. Once we chose Sun Viking for the project, Derek came out to the house several times before work began to make sure that we understood the plan and that he could match the existing materials as closely as possible. Derek and the team completed the project before the deadline, did a beautiful job, and cleaned up after themselves. I have worked with two other large landscaping contractors in the area, and I'm a huge fan of Sun Viking. Derek and Dave do an incredible job. Unlike some of the other larger contractors, you will be seeing the same person when you get the quote, when you work out the design, and during construction. They are experts on design, construction, drainage, plant selection and maintenance. Every day I would talk to our foreman Dave, we would work out some details, and he would be there all day making sure things were done perfectly. A few years ago I had Sun Viking install a patio for me. They were extremely professional and did an amazing job. In my experience it has been rare to find a company that takes as much pride in their work as Sun Viking. We made the mistake of hiring another company first to build us a patio and two sets of steps. They totally botched the job, costing us money, time, and weeks of access to our backyard! Sun Viking is fabulous! They replaced a wood deck with a paver patio, including new landscaping and lighting. They also addressed drainage issues for us, and were very mindful to ensure rainwater flows away from the home. Their finished product is breathtaking! Derek’s design was spot on, and he came by frequently to ensure we were happy with the progress. Not only is their work excellent but their prices are fair. They made sure to measure twice and cut once. I talked to at least six other companies to do this hardscaping job and what separates Derek from the rest of them is his honesty, knowledge and skill of his employees. I would highly recommend Sun Viking to anyone. From our perspective, we simply wanted a paver patio, with steps from our back doorstep and a gas fire pit in our backyard. Derek designed the layout and added some additional flavor that we simply would not have thought of, like lighting, a grill pad and landscaping. Every step of the way, Derek and his team discussed the progress and kept us in the loop as to what to expect throughout the job.
