To employ and develop Virginians who are blind, visually impaired or deaf/blind to achieve their desired level of employment through the manufacture and delivery of quality products and services. Established almost nine decades ago, VIB started as a private organization in Charlottesville, Virginia through the efforts of the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind.
Now as part of the Enterprise Division of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI), VIB works in coordination with the DBVI Services Division and the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired (VRCBVI) to provide a full range of employment, training, and other vocational services to blind individuals across the Commonwealth.
VIB currently has operations in twenty-one locations throughout Virginia, employing more than 150 people, 100+ of whom are blind or visually impaired. VIB operates two manufacturing facilities, one in Charlottesville and another in Richmond.

Services
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) provides a variety of contract services for state and federal government customers in locations all across the Commonwealth. Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is the Prime Contractor operating the Postal Service Center, supporting approximately 8,000 military personnel for Langley Air Force Base six days weekly.
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) operates Base Supply Centers (BSC's) on Military bases and in Federal Government buildings throughout Virginia. Each BSC provides a full range of products tailored to the needs and requirements of the Federal Government and Department of Defense (DoD) customers at the location, ranging from general use office supplies to cleaning supplies, tools and uniform items.
VIB currently operates two manufacturing facilities, one in Charlottesville and one in Richmond, where we produce a wide selection of goods for federal, state, and public sector customers. Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) has historically been identified by our manufacturing roots. As early as 1925, VIB was producing mattresses, brooms and caning chairs for our government and commercial customers.
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) provides training and other vocational rehabilitation services. This program is designed to provide a variety of services to customers of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) as well as VIB employees. Assessing an individual's skills and abilities to determine a vocational goal or develop a training plan.
