So many people think that hardwood flooring is an easier project to tackle and that anyone can do a proper hardwood flooring installation with the right tools. In fact, there is a lot of science and knowledge that is needed to install a hardwood floor properly. Yes, your cousin Joe or even a general contractor can nail some wood to your floor, but the question is how long will that floor last and what will it look like in the future.
The second most important factor in how well your hardwood floor finish will wear is how well your floor was sanded. That is why here at Fitzgerald's Hardwood Floors we follow strict guidelines to sanding your floor always using the correct grit sequence that is best suited for your species of wood floor.
There are so many different types of stains and finishes on the market and like everything else some are better then others. We don't use any types of stains or finishes that are found inside big box retailers. We have found that a lot of these products do not hold up to the abuse that your wood floors will take over the years.

A huge thank you to Jim Sr. and Jim Jr. at Fitzgeralds Hardwood Floors!! They did an amazing job refinishing our oak flooring on our 1st floor, as well as our stairs to our 2nd floor. Our floors were very worn, had several dog stains, and rough, raised edges in areas. You would never know they were in this condition. They look beautiful and renewed now! From start to finish they were professional, clearly explained the process, and answered any questions we had. A couple of the steps required more than expected and they stayed later to finish and came back to check the drying status throughout

I wish I could give owner, Jim, 10 stars!! He has done 2 projects at our home. He was able to do a continuation of hardwood from an existing room into an addition. It was a job that my head contractors floor guy didn’t want to touch due to the difficulty making the new floor transition and match the old existing floor. Jim did the job. It is absolutely beautiful. No one could tell the old floor from the new...it looks like it was all put down at the same time. Another job was repairing a hole in our hardwood from removing a large floor vent. He made everything match perfectly...he is a true craftsman

For several years we had considered replacing the carpet throughout our entire second floor. We were hesitant though due to the price, dust, and quality of the install. After searching online, we came across Fitzgeralds. We received a few quotes and did our homework before selecting our contractor. Fitzgeralds was competitively priced and all their references gave high marks. We decided to use Jim and his team for the install.

Fitzgeralds Hardwood Floors Is top rate, highly professional and they provided great service. They restored our 25 year old hardwood floors and installed new living room flooring. Their craftsmanship was outstanding and their dust control equipment made the process very easy to live with. The final product after staining, sealing and topcoat finish was fantastic.

The Fitzgerald's are the best at hardwood flooring. The perfectionism of Jim Jr and experience of Jim Sr are the quality traits that make for a great father and son company. They work with you and go over details to make sure you get exactly what you want and that there are no surprises. If its a job they don't feel comfortable with because it will not be done the right way they will let you know and tell you to go to someone who will just do the job to get the money and leave, because that is not what they will do. Fitzgerald's take pride in their hard work and craftsmanship!

Fitzgerald Hardwood Floors took our original hardwood floors (60 years old) removed bad sections, feathered in new sections, sanded, stained entire first floor of our home - outstanding work! One of the best hardwood flooring companies I have ever come across. They do the best work and make sure everything is PERFECT. They are very professional, clean, very helpful, and knowledgeable. They really know their stuff and do beautiful work start to finish! I wouldn't hire anyone else for my flooring needs.
