Metals & Nature
Diego Smude, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In his early twenties, he immigrated to Israel where he worked in the art business for five years before moving to the United States. In 1985 he and his wife, Mary, established a plant nursery and garden in Plant City, Florida. His love for plants and art merged to create Metals & Nature.

Metals & Nature is an artistic wrought iron company that designs and fabricates iron works of all styles. We create custom wrought iron gates, railings, furniture, doors, iron decor and more for homes and businesses across the Tampa area. In a world of mass production we take pride in the craftsmanship of handmade iron pieces.

Our 2 acre garden in Plant City, Florida began over 30 years ago. The natural trails under the mossy oaks are a canvass for unique statuary and our handcrafted iron designs. Many come to simply enjoy the serene flower blooms, strutting peacocks, and elegant wrought iron dcor. Others come to inspire their custom wrought iron designs and work with Diego to create the ideal wrought iron piece.

If you're looking for garden ornaments, you'll want to experience Metals and Nature. Themed areas are whimsical and inspiring. We enjoyed the variety of peacocks, turkeys, ducks and cats strolling the grounds, as well as the caged budgies, parrots, doves- even a friendly pig and rabbit live together amicably here. So much fun to stroll around, and we came home with a few pretties for our outdoor space. We recommend a stop! By the way, our leashed dog was welcome here, too.

Very beautiful has a feel like you stepped into another world. Great place to just enjoy nature or to get some statues and things for a garden. I sadly didn't get to see the piggy but I enjoyed it, minus the wasps (but that's a florida thing)

A short hop over to Plant City for a fun afternoon out of the house. All the handcrafted items by artist Diego Smude are displayed in situ on this two acre site, so you can find inspiration as to how to add some charm to your garden or patio. The nature is not all rooted in the ground though, as you may cross paths with a wandering peacock, visit the pig, or chat with the (caged) chickens and parrots. (Or in my case get a giant grasshopper tangled in your hair, evidently as payback for an indelicate photo I had taken earlier. See below.)
Don’t be intimidated by price! There is something for

This garden is absolutely beautiful! It's not too far from the Berry Barn on State Rd 60. You can't miss it. There are large signs about their wrought iron gates and statues that will lead you in. Yes, 2 acres of iron artwork and sculpted statues. It's a butterfly garden with beautiful birds. They even have a talking pig that comes up to you as soon as you approach his home. A very vocal pig! I literally was mesmerized by all of this. We were greeted by a talking parrot. I believe her name is Annie (or so I've read). She says "Hi" to you as you walk up to her cage

This place is very cute with unique statues and metals for purchase displayed in the gardens. There are graceful peacocks and sweet kitties that roam the gardens, and the owner is present, but let's you explore without hovering.

Steer clear. Diego Smude the owner is not an honorable man. He didn't complete my installation.
Told me he would be back and never came. Blames his worker and he takes no responsibility. His worker was injured and he still tried to force him to work. This is a disreputable and mean man.

Met my brother and sister-in-law here the other day. What a fun place! It is essentially a show garden for all the artists work. It costs nothing to view the art and almost all of it is for sale. I walked away with a nice lamb statue for my garden but walking the grounds was so much fun. I really enjoyed the animals, from roosters, to guinea pigs, a parrot, an exotic white peacock and Boinky, the Pig! Definitely a great place to stop, especially if you are on your way to get some great Plant City strawberries.

Don't go here on a hot day. There's lots to see outdoors and lots of shade, meaning it's a mosquito haven and you will get bitten. But what a peaceful and beautiful place to be inspired.

A hidden gem. My friends and I went here this morning. This place is beautiful and so peaceful. It's like a slice of heaven on earth. The flowers and trees were beautiful and the stones and metal work were truly breathtaking. This is an amazing place to go with kids, friends, or a fun date night. We also saw several adorable cats, a pig, and stunning peacocks. I highly recommend this truly secret garden as one of my favorite gems on Tampa Bay.

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to the garden of Metals and Nature. When we first walked in we were a bit surprised to be greeted by a parrot! We rang the bell and were welcomed in by the sweetest woman we've ever met. Her name was Mary and she made us feel right at home. We had a brief conversation about the history of the property and went off on our way exploring. With pleasant music playing in the background we wandered around at our own pace and just enjoyed being at peace with nature. I'd tell you more about what we saw, but I don't want to spoil any of the surprises

Diego and Randy are great! what craftsmen! I was blown away by their work and their service was fantastic beating their estimated time of delivery and installation. (unheard of in Florida). They did a metal fence and gate that is a one of a kind work of art. A balcony railing for a second story window that they installed and two arbors for my garden. I highly recommend them!
