As one of the longest-standing Austin tree experts, and the founder of Just Trees, Markus has been caring for this region's trees for more than twenty years. Originally from Boppard, Germany, Markus made his way through Boston and New Mexico before settling in Austin. You are most likely to run into Markus if you need tree work that requires his knowledge of technical rigging and heavy equipment.

Class I deadwood tree removal: Class I deadwood removal consists of removing dead, dying, or broken limbs and branches that are approximately one inch in diameter and larger. This is detailed and time consuming work, and is not recommended for most homeowners. Class II deadwood tree removal: Class II deadwood removal consists of removing dead, dying, or broken limbs and branches that are approximately two inches in diameter and larger.
Tree pruning is an art as well as a science. It can either help or hurt a tree. It is important that a tree trimming crew has both good training and good judgment. Our pruning / trimming crews are supervised by an ISA Certified Arborist, and we follow ISA Standards and Practices, ANSI A300 Pruning Standards, and ANSI Z133 Safety Standards.

I met Markus when his team doing tree trim service for the house opposite to my house across the road. I asked him to look at trees around my house front and back to see if he can do anything. To my surprise, Markus suggested we do not need to do anything. He think the trees in my backyard do not need be trimmed or even touched even I thought they should be cut a lot. He is in tree cutting business but recommended me not to do any tree trimming. I think this is very honest man. I think I will use him in the future, when my trees need to be trimmed.

Just Trees took care of my 100+ year old Live Oak. I was anxious about oak wilt and they took great care of it and explained what I needed to look for. They were knowledgeable not just about the tree but the neighborhood and the specific trees in it. When it came time to sell the house they trimmed the stunning tree, removed ball moss, and made… sure the canopy showed off the house. I wished I had had it done more frequently while I lived there. Just Trees removed a hackberry tree that was causing the oaks around it to grow outward and down rather than upward towards the sky. They trimmed all the trees in the yard leaving it looking brighter and more beautiful than ever, and they left the stump of the hackberry so I could add a door and roof to design a gnome garden around it. Very professional and reasonably priced, the cleanup was perfect! They are my company of choice and I highly recommend them.

We have always trusted Just Trees to give us the best advice on the large heritage pecan trees on our property. They are careful pruners and don't promote unnecessary treatments if they cannot be reasonably sure of positive results. Professional, understood exactly what needed to be done -- was selling the house so I wanted the trees to look good but because I was leaving, I didn't want to go all out -- about 80%. They got that and the work they did was so beautiful I wish I had done it while I lived there. Beautiful work, very professional, and easy to talk to, ask questions, and understand. Just Trees is the best tree service in Austin, and I've used excellent tree services here for 20 years. Chris Poth is honest and knowledgeable and cares about keeping trees healthy and strong. He's even willing to recommend withholding requested service when it's not best for the trees (I recommended a heritage oak be fertilized, and he explained why doing so wasn't a good idea at this time in light of its fertilization history). I called to get a bid to trim and clean up some trees around our house. Markus from JustTrees was quick to respond and gave me the best price for the work he was quoting. Another was a little less but he was not planning to do as good a job as just trees quoted. Markus was very knowledgeable about oak wilt and showed me how to protect my trees. After his team finished it was an AMAZING difference how they transformed our yard including cleaning up their work site. I highly recommend Just Trees !
