Maine Village Weaver
Phyllis Leck has been accepted into the 2020 Directory of Traditional American Crafts, published in the August issue of Early American Life Magazine. This is a juried group of craftsman from top museums in the country. The studio is located in a beautiful 1790's Federal home, on the coastal Pemaquid pennisula.

The weaving studio and shop is cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. I enjoy meeting customers as they drop in during the day. Contact me to place custom orders. Half payment is required when placing your order with the balance due plus 10% shipping upon completion. Maine residents add 5.5% Maine sales.

In the late 1970's, I was a young mother living on an island north of Seattle, Washington. My husband, Andy, was in Alaska fishing for months at a time. Long stretches of time and solitude allowed me to focus on my weaving. After moving back east, Andy began his career as a full time blacksmith. We traveled together to craft shows, featuring early Americana.

I hand wove this baby blanket for my grandchild. I think the first year is a special time and should be celebrated with a unique and loving gift. If you have an old worn out Jane Connor's "Country Cat Loom" rug and want to revive it, send it to me and I can reweave it for you! Contact me for a price quote.

Phyllis Leck is the real deal. A trip to the Maine Village Weaver studio and shop is like going to an updated living history museum. The innovation that the weavers of old employed in their work continues with the likes of Phyllis Leck. The breadth of her work runs from long wearing rugs to soft, feminine scarfs. I use my table cloth and napkins every day!
Added attraction is her iron artist husband's studio and shop on the same property. Worth a stop when visiting the Pemaquid area.

Does beautiful work. Love the dyes she makes herself and uses in all the things she weaves.
