Created in 1989, the Northern Wayne County Public Service District (NWCPSD) was established to combat a rising environmental threat to the receiving streams of the area from failed septic systems. The system was installed for the purpose of transporting wastewater from residences and businesses of the Lavalette/Northern Wayne County area to the City of Huntington, WV for proper sewer treatment prior to being discharged into the Ohio River.

The system is a "unique design" consisting of a pressurized system that involved the installation of approximately 1,200 individual "Grinder Stations" and 16 Lift Stations. The grinder pumps grind up solids and force them into 1 1/2 pressurized lines where they eventually connect to larger lines commonly referred to as Mains.

Pressurized systems are an effective solution where conventional gravity systems are impractical to install due to elevation changes. In order to transport processed wastewater approximately 73 miles of pipeline ranging from 1 1/4" to 16" in size was installed.
Services
All customers desiring sewer service must make written application at the office during normal office hours on prescribed form. Please note that we only except cash, check, or money orders as payment for security deposits. The District will charge a tap fee of seven hundred-fifty dollars ($750.00) for each NEW sewer tap made.
The District requires the usage of SDR 35 four (4) inch sewer pipe with gasket for all new services. One clean out at house and an additional clean out for each 100 feet of pipe used. If you are a commercial business with a restaurant license you are required to install and maintain a grease trap to prevent unwanted grease from entering the District's sewer system.
When a customer is moving off of the system and is requesting to stop service at that premises under their name, that customer must come into the office, mail or put in the night drop a statement requesting such. We require that the customer address the location of disconnection, as of what date, a forwarding address and phone number.
Nexbillpay offers a secure customer portal that provides convenient services such as account verifications/notifications, Usage/Billing Presentment and One-time or Recurring Payment Processing through multiple secure channels - online, mobile and by phone or in-person. There will be a convience fee for this service.
Our field technicians work around the clock, doing routine maintenance and service call outs. If your sewer box red light comes on, do not assume that we know it is on. This light can be an indication of a problem and our technicians need to service it as soon as possible. You can call our office at 304-523-1070 to report any lights or any concerns.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. As a family of 2 (myself and my 9 year old daughter), my sewer bill was 120.00 alone. When I called to ask why it’s so high the lady said well there was a rate increase. Then after trying to discuss my bill I was transferred to three different people, finally talked to who claimed to be the general manager, and was told I wasn’t pleasant to talk to and that maybe if customers listened. As a manager myself I would never speak to a customer that way. Everyone in that office needs fired or a training class on customer service. I will be contacting the

I’m astounded at the price they charge. More than water bill I receive. Older lady at the window is rude and hateful. Loath dealing with them. Despise having to pay them.

You can’t even get a hold of them to pay your bill. If there were any other options they wouldn’t be so smug. The workers are rude they are constantly making mistakes. You call and are ok hold for 10-15 min just to pay them and then there after hours service is complete trash. The employees are there just to say they don’t know to their customers. The place is awful and frankly I’m going to move just so I can stop dealing with idiots.

It's bad when I pay more for sewer than I do water or even electric on occasion

The price we pay for sewer is ridiculous! I feel sorry for the people on a fixed income having to pay this! If by mistake you don't pay on time you are charged 10 percent....and receive a cut off notice!

Grossly overpriced for sewer service. No wonder there is no residential building going on in this companies service area.
But, what can you expect from a Wayne county entity?
