Delivery available in Durham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Hillsborough for our products such as mulch, topsoil, compost and more. Not responsible for damages to driveways and neighborhood roads (Example: oil stains, cracks, etc.). Our trucks can only deliver to concrete, asphalt and gravel driveways or parking areas.

I had a great experience at Durham’s Rock Shop. I’ve never had rocks delivered to my house, Emily was very patient and helpful while I figured out what I needed. Within just a few days Doobie delivered my rocks so expertly he was able to drop them right next to some freshly planted trees. Thank you all again, you “rock”!

Had deliveries several times over many years. Very easy to work and extremely considerate. If I were the staff at the rock shop I would get mad at me but they never do. I change my mind and delivery dates and can be annoying. About a month ago they delivered and spread gravel for me at a price of less than $500. A different company quoted $1800 for the exact product delivered and spread. I didn’t call that second mentioned company but someone trying to help me did. There’s no reason to call anyone else in Durham…. This place is the best deal and I think the best product.

I thought I could pick up a few rocks for painting. They specialize in landscaping and tend to sell in much larger quantities than I was interested in, but the owner (?) was kind enough to let me rummage around in their spares and extras. No pressure and it was an entertaining few minutes, should I ever need to paint by the ton, I'll know where to go! I was able to find a few fun pieces, so crafters should stop in if they're in the area.

I got 2.5 yards of the 40 compost with the 32 dollar tiller. They delivered promptly. There was an issue with the tiller so they upgraded me to the 100 dollar tiller for free. Nick helped me through using the larger tiller and came by to make sure I was able to handle such a huge tiller myself.
What good prices for compost! What above and beyond customer service. Those on the phone are so patient and helpful. The deliver crew went above and beyond.

Never Again. Went to pickup a couple of yards of leaf compost which they advertised on their website. Waited 30 minutes to get into the lot as a delivery truck blocked the entrance. Then I found out they no longer sell the aged leaf compost. Great. So I bought the certified compost which was a mistake as I had to wait another 30 minutes to get loaded. This used to be a good place. I've made my last purchase from them.

Ordered 3 cu. yards of soil and compost mixed for my home garden. They had a long wait for a scheduled delivery, but I got put on a waitlist and was got my delivery by the end of the week because I live nearby. Super responsive when I asked about timing later in the week and the delivery driver was very quick, friendly and understanding about where we needed the dirt placed. Going to be a return customer for sure.

Placed an order to have gravel delivered. Prices were fair, even a little cheaper compared to others. Delivery was fast and on time. All the staff I've talked to so far were friendly and helpful with all my questions about installing a drainage system. I'll order from them again easily. From my understanding they can put about 5cu/yd or less on the 'smaller' truck in case you are worried about driveway size. But of course double check when ordering.

I had a truly fantastic experience using the Rock Shop for all our needs to make some changes to the landscape. Our goal was drying out a swampy yard. We rented the tractor with backhoe- prompt delivery at the best price in town. We needed deliveries of 3 different sized rock plus a topsoil blend to cap it off. Great communication with Emily and Melissa at the shop and then deliveries by the best driver in town Jimmy! If I had to start all over again the only thing I would change was my wasted prep time looking around at the delivery and rental options- I’d just come straight to the Rock Shop

I love the Rock Shop.
Why? Solid selection of materials, family owned business, friendly service, and easy in and out. I've bought mulch, top soil, compost, several grades of gravel, and stepping stones. The prices are reasonable and if you have your own truck or trailer they'll load it for you. If you don't they can deliver.

After my 2nd very good experience with ordering 3X-Shredded Hardwood Mulch, I'd like to salute TRS. Both times they've helpfully & graciously taken my phone order, and arranged convenient & efficient deliveries. Even the drivers have been very helpful-- in strategically dropping my loads (including splitting the last one with a nearby neighbor). Just as important, their mulch-product is top quality ... and their price hasn't changed in 2 years.

I recently purchased 2 yards of River Rock. They have 2 sizes of the Carolina River Rock and were very patient with my questions and gave me advice regarding setting the stepping stones I plan to go back and buy after the gravel is spread. I ordered on Friday and delivery was on Monday! The delivery driver, Eugene was super! He listened as to where I wanted to spread the stone and was able to carefully unload the rock without dumping it onto existing plants. Very pleasant experience overall!

Update: we ordered a much more reasonable amount of mulch this year. In fact, it was half of last year's order and it was just the right amount. We didn't have any leftovers for our neighbors this year, though. Sorry neighbors!
Also, we recently stopped by to pick up some loose stones for a stepping stone path to our patio. It was fun to pick them out, put them on the cart, and weigh them to see what you'll pay. It kind of felt like a game show. I recommend that you bring some gloves for picking up the stones to get a good grip and avoid ripping your hands up if you have soft, delicate

Visited to get an estimate on gravel to spread over decades-old, embedded gravel already in our driveway. The gal pointed us to the sample rock bin so we could figure out what kind we wanted to order, and also told us there's a quantity calculator on the website (nifty) so we could plug our measurements in there, and help figure the quantity we'd need that results in the recommended 3-inch depth. We placed the order, and it was scheduled to arrive the following afternoon ($40 deliver-and-drop fee, which seemed reasonable; but you can pay them to spread it for you too, if you prefer).

Ordered 10 yards of mulch. Delivery set for Saturday at 2PM. They never show up. No call, no email, no notification of any kind. They're closed at 3PM on Saturday until the following Monday. So I sat around for four hours waiting.
Don't mind them running out of mulch (the explanation I got on Monday morning). I DO mind wasting my Saturday because of poor customer service.
