I provide thorough, conscientious, and honest remodeling, repairs, and restoration - with an artist's eye, a craftsman's deft touch, and a modicum of humor. I am located in Madison, Wisconsin. Over the past 30 years, I have worked all over southwest Wisconsin and Chicago. While I have done everything from roofing to minor foundation repairs (and everything in-between), my best and favorite work is my "Sexy Bathrooms."
I love the complexity of a bathroom: the carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tiling, trim and paint all need to come together just so. And I will pay the same caring attention when rebuilding your basement stairs as when I rebuild your sexy bathroom. Unlike many contractors, I will be present and working on your house every day.
I have always been a working carpenter, present and working every day of every project. Except for very special occurrences, I rarely had more than one project going at once so I could control the quality of the finished project. There will not be communication problems with the crew or the person nominally in charge.

There had been a pipe break, and the floor to the bathroom was damaged. I entered the job as some of the demolition had been done already. Originally, I was to tear up the floor, augment the floor joists as necessary, and take a window out of one of the walls (this had been an exterior wall and they had not removed the window when they added a sun-room).
This customer, a renowned artist, had mold and mildew-impregnated grout between the tiles in her bathroom. The plaster behind the tiles had been moist for some time. Because of the extent of the damage (and the dated tile aesthetic), we determined that the bathroom required complete rebuilding. I began by dustproofing the work area and demolishing the bathroom.
Decades ago the house had been subdivided and used as a rooming house. The tiny bathroom (6'x6') was worn out. I completely gutted it to the studs and floor joists. I cut through a wall into the adjacent bedroom and annexed approximately 3'x6', enough to fit a new bathtub. I finished and framed the remaining room which has become an office.
This was a thorough rebuild of a bathroom and adjacent room for some wonderful friends. The existing bathroom was small (well, it is a small house). The existing bathroom was also very badly thought out and laid out with the toilet hard up against the vanity, wasted space behind the vanity, and the vent stack taking up space in the room instead of being hidden in a wall as usual.
What started out as a simple pullout tub surround, replace plaster with Duroc tile substrate, and tile grew. There was much damage to the existing tub and to the wall framing. It was decided that we would completely gut the Bath tub and create a much more usable wheel in accessible shower. We tore out the floor, augmented the joists and prepped the floor inside the shower area and outside in the room proper for tile.
