Services
More than 100 years ago my father would welcome new neighbors to the community with a warm smile and firm hand shake as he delivered coal in his horse-drawn cart. I have made it a point to continue the tradition of welcoming our new neighbors, despite the fact that the days of the horse-drawn cart are behind us.
With our convenient, automatic home heating oil delivery, we take care of everything for you so you never have to worry about checking the tank again. Standard Oil uses a sophisticated, computerized home heating oil delivery system so we can reliably estimate your heating oil usage and dispatch a truck to make deliveries at the most appropriate time.
When you receive a delivery of heating oil from Standard Oil, you are actually getting something more. After we receive a shipment of oil from our suppliers, we blend in special additives that help your system run more efficiently and dependably. Don't search for the cheapest heating oil in CT, instead use the best heating oil and save.
We recommend an annual additive to treat the inside of your heating oil tank. This special treatment will help break up and prevent the build up of naturally occurring sludge and sediment within your tank. Just as tanks that are exposed to extreme cold in the winter, tanks that are exposed to extreme heat are more likely to develop issues and will likely need treatment to prevent filters from clogging.
All indoor oil tanks should have a tank tray underneath the tank to provide secondary containment in the event of an oil leak. This is especially true for older tanks, tanks resting on dirt floors or tanks in basements with sump pumps. Tank trays cost only $129 each, but can prevent many thousands of dollars in personal and environmental damage.

Their staff and service have been fantastic! Dave helped us out tonight - what a great representative for a company that we have dealt with for over 15 years. Highly recommend them!

I was a customer of Standard Oil more than fifteen years ago, and I found the company to be difficult to deal with when there were questions about services and billing. I had thought that I was working with a reputable company with professional standards, but I was not. Fast forward to late April 2021, I called to find out about Standard' security and monitoring services and I was told that I need to schedule an appointment for 3pm on April 28th. On the 28th at 2:30pm I received a call explaining that there was heavy traffic on 95 and that all appointments were backed-up and the appointment

Wow!! I think I better stop reading all reviews after reading the poor rating given to Standard oil.I guess reviews aren't the way to rate a company.First review I have ever given because this made me a little mad. A customer of Standard oil since 2001.Excellent service and never any problems, hope the next 20 years will be the same.

Can I give zero stars??? The absolute worst customer service you can ever imagine. The technicians who come out to the house are fine but everyone else??? Forget it.

Also if you want to schedule your annual service that they automatically charge you for - be sure to call 9-12 months in advance. I've called in June and July and was told I'd have to wait until January for an appointment.

I finally switched to a new oil company this year after 5 years with Standard Oil. It is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Stay away from Standard Oil at all costs.

Standard oil is a community business with thousands of customers in connecticut. I was wondering if they have put out any statements regarding the COVID 19 to their customers. If so where is this information covered and if they haven't why not?

WAY TO GO Standard Oil - my parents, both in their 80’s, both have health conditions and have been quarantining themselves at home for almost 2 weeks. My mom calls to ask if they can get the lower price for their oil delivery, which today is $1.45/gallon, she was told NO you signed a contract for $2.59 that’s what you need to pay. The rep (who’s… name I will not say, but know) says “consider yourself lucky lots of people still paying $3”. My parents haven’t left their home in 2 weeks and you say “consider yourself lucky”! Very nice way to treat

Absolutely hate this company. They constantly want you to wait until your tank is empty and when you are empty or close to it and call they tell you someone is coming out and no one shows. Its been a few days… now and I ended up getting my tank filled myself 5 gallons at a time. I called for 3 days and each day they said we are coming your on the list. Thats called lip service. They showed up on the 4th day. Nothing like hiring a company to do a job and then they completely fail at it. Glad the phone calls are recorded too since it will show them that I called for 3 days and each time was

Every fall I call around and get the best deal on home heating oil and a service contract. I commit for a year. Today, I was told they don't want my business, like shopping for the best price is somehow a sin. I've used Standard a number of years and never had a problem. I pay my bill on time. This is good business?

A customer of Standard Oil for about 15 years and called to make a burner service appointment. It's October 9. 1st available appointment is end of February. And not the first time this has happened with outrageous lead times.

How is that customer service?

There are many other home heating oil companies in the western Fairfleld county area. I'll be looking for another. I would suggest people look elsewhere also.

Standard oil company is Amazing. Their services are exceptional and the work done by their own technicians, Perfect. I cannot say enough. After dealing with an other company that said my air condition coils and draining pan were discontinued and I would most likely need a whole new system .Guess what they lied,my system was fixed and running within a short( period of time. WOW. They changed the parts and verified that everything is working properly. What a great feeling to know that there is honesty and integrity with Standard Oil. They did not make my day- but my whole summer. My son

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

The service with this company is atrocious. We have a service plan and pay $2,100/month (yes, per month) in heating our main house and guest house. This afternoon, I came home to a house with no heat. We thought it was an issue with a boiler because the boiler read "contact service co.". After waiting 2 hrs and receiving no call, I decided to check the tank -- completely empty. When I called back to inform them they responded, "they were scheduled to make a delivery on the 2nd, but I don't know what happened... maybe they ran out of oil"

I signed up for auto delivery last January and a service contract. Make sure you actually cancel this service after the year is up if you decide to go elsewhere the following year. If you don't cancel they still will come and price gauge the heck out of you. I can get oil anywhere right now for 2.40 and they charged me 2.85. Luckily my new company just filled it and I only got 24 gallons but I am extremely irritated that I now have to pay them for something I felt I was told was up on January 12th and they rolled in on Feb 9th. Customer service is friendly but they are severely high priced

I am so surprised by the rating of standard oil. I am a new home owner and have placed multiple calls to standard oil to come out and look at various components on my boiler. They never disappoint, someone can always come out the day of. They are the most reliable company I have worked with and I am so incredibly happy with their service. Not to mention, EVERY service technician that comes out is SO friendly (about 5 or 6 guys have come out so far). If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!!!

I'd like to start out by saying I've been a customer of this place for well over 20 years, the last 20 at the same address however. In recent years I have noticed they have been hiring younger less experienced drivers to deliver their oil. I have a difficult driveway to navigate if you attempt to back up it from the street. It is 180 feet or so and shaped like an S. But it was designed and paved in such a way to be wider at the curves and bottom so it can be navigable by trucks like UPS, FedEx, US Mail, Furniture delivery, pool water, etc. None of the aforementioned trucks have issues

I've been a customer of Standard Oil for several years now. They have proven to me to be a fair and reliable company. Last year we switched over from oil to propane and their team has been great in the… transition. I saw one or two one-star ratings on here and quite honestly I'm surprised by them. They must have had a unique problem because my experiences for the most part have been very positive. I would definitely recommend Standard Oil for both oil and propane systems.

Standard Oil is the ONLY company I would recommend to family & friends. We had a new furnace & AC unit installed by our former Oil company. After 4 years we started having issues (by then we had switched to Standard Oil). After the AC unit died for the 2nd time, we found out it was installed correctly and had freon leak. The Customer Service Rep worked with us on scheduling service, the Tech was here and re-installed the vent, the wiring and fixed the freon leak. He kept my husband abreast of his finding, showed him the damage and what needed to be replaced.
Initially we went with Standard

Horrible!!! Do not start any sort of delivery service with this company!! They will show up when ever they want! We did not order oil from them this winter and because of this they sent me a $500 bill for not ordering enough?!? Are you kidding me?? You want $500 for nothing. No service and no oil, but I have to pay you because we didn't use enough. I called to see what this bill was about and the people on the other end were so disgusting and rude. I have such a bad taste in my mouth with this company. They won't see a cent from me. If I can give them a negative star rating I would.

WHAT SERVICE? I have been calling the 800 number for almost an hour. We awoke to a 53 degree bedroom. It is 20 degrees outside. We have no heat and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE. We have a service agreement which I will be canceling Monday. I'm about to get Roy Freidman's home number but he's probably in Florida. Trust me, I'm also canceling our oil delivery.

Very surprised at the bad rating given to Standard Oil. They have had the best service of any provider we have tried in Connecticut. We used to use Petro - they failed to show up. We switched 5.5 years ago to Standard Oil and have never had a delivery problem. We have the worst luck - our relatively new furnace (installed by Petro) something goes wrong every winter. The good news is Standard Oil when you are under contract has free service and they come out and fix it - no questions asked - within the given time frame. Only once they did not make it and they were an hour after the period

Tried to do business with these folks and I just gave up. Responded to a mailing to get a proposal. One came and it was impossible to understand. So I called the sales person and she tried to explain the complexity of the proposal and dug the confusion hole deeper.

Then the ultimate stop the deal occurred: I had to electronically sign a contract that I would not get a copy of (never have I seen such an arrangement). And the contract did not match the proposal at all, not even close. When I insisted that the contract match the proposal, the sales rep said that would be impossible as it was
