Services
Before you hire a tree service to perform any work it's an excellent idea to hire an experienced arborist to give an unbiased professional opinion of what you really need. Often times we find many tree services that want to charge their clients for unnecessary work that often does more harm than good.
Before removing a tree, many municipalities and counties in Washington now require a permit, even if the tree is on your own private property. Some cities even require a permit for pruning. Part of this permit usually involves a report or form completed by a certified arborist verifying what work should be performed.
Often times a tree removal or pruning permit requires a Tree Risk Assessment report be included with the permit application. If there is a tree on your neighbor's property that you are concerned could cause damage to your property, having a Tree Risk Assessment report completed and on file can help streamline the insurance claim process if it does end up causing damage.
In many cities in our state, in order to obtain an approved site plan for building an arborist's report is required. The city will want to know how many trees exist on the site, which ones you plan to keep according to their tree retention requirements, and the health of the trees you plan on keeping.
To obtain building permits, sometimes the tree retention requirements of a city or county cannot be met by keeping existing trees. In most cases, mitigation is allowed within certain guidelines. New trees are brought in and planted at the site, or sometimes in the right-of-way near the site. Some cities will even allow mitigation trees to be planted at city parks or other public spaces.

Cody is a very knowledgable arborist. We scheduled an appointment with him last winter for a big fir in my backyard. He knew what was going wrong on his first visit also the process required by the city for removing it. He also let me know the problem with another maple tree in my yard when he noticed it. And explained what is the correct way to trim that tree with a lot of patience. His team did a neat job.

Cody was very comprehensive and complete in his work. No drama and no fuss. Cody does what is in the scope (and then some) and doesn’t need hand holding.
We had a new city tree retention code that I asked him to read and understand it in relation to our proposed project. He did so and worked great with city staff and other project consultants. We are continuing to use Cody as our project progresses. I would highly recommend Cody at ABC Herron Teee.

Cody came out to review property for our HOA and did a great job. He was flexible with scheduling, respectful of the owners' property adjacent to the area being evaluated, and most importantly, was extremely knowledgeable. He helped us make decisions on what to do with our problem trees both for the immediate issues as well as long-term issues that we forsaw. He provided several possible solutions, knowing we were working within a budget. I would definitely recommend this business and would work with him again.
