Repointing is the process of renewing mortar joints in masonry construction.
Over time, weathering and decay causes voids in the joints between masonry units (usually bricks) allowing the undesirable ingress of water. Water entering through these voids can cause significant damage through freeze/thaw cycles and from dissolving salts and salt deposits. Repointing is also called pointing, or pointing up Repointing is a critical maintenance task and keeps water from entering the brick wall cavity.
If water is allowed to get past the mortar and into the wall brick failure may occur such as cracking or spalling (popping off of the brick face).

Masonry restoration is challenging work, but it's also artwork. And a specialty trade. The nature of masonry requires intimate knowledge of factors beyond the time-honored science of bricks and mortar. Similar to other specialties like web site design, carpentry or legal work, while anyone can do masonry work, not everyone will do it well without experience.
Our masonry improvements are built to last. We install durable repairs that meet the expectations of our clients. A clean and orderly work site is a high priority for both our clients and ourselves and we strive to minimize disruptions while work is completed. Drahamane (Head Mason) and his partner showed up at 800 each day and worked until approximately 5 pm.

Brick By Brick did a phenomenal job repointing the stone retaining wall in front of my house. Drahamane, their master mason, has rare expertise about the original construction method for old stone walls and looked after every detail until it was perfect. The wall looks great and I'm confident that it will last well past another 100 years! Highly recommend! (pictures are before and after)
