Services
We're helping the new owners of this house on ten acres in Upper Ojai to update this house and add indoor and outdoor living space and a new pool. The project also includes remodel of the kitchen, bathrooms and utility space. We're making additions to a lovely Craftsman bungalow in Montecito. We're adding about 1200 s.f. of new living space (family room, new bedroom suite, enlarged bedrooms and patio) to this 2400 s.f.
Thompson Naylor Architects is proud to be part of the green building movement. We are strongly committed to increasing green building awareness as well as our own expertise within the field. The majority of our staff members are LEED accredited professionals (USGBC) and Certified Green Building Professionals (NARI).

It is hard to overstate the outstanding architectural services provided by Dennis Thompson and his firm Thompson Naylor Architects. In 2019-2020, Dennis guided my wife and me through a complete remodeling of our 1950’s-era house on the Mesa in Santa Barbara. The project was particularly challenging because we were located on the East Coast at the time and needed to collaborate remotely. In addition, our house is in the Coastal Zone and is subject to local covenants, which constrained design options and required expertise in navigating permits and design choices.

Dennis Thompson designed our beautiful new home, guided us through the permit process and worked with our contractor as the dream became a reality. Despite our being remote for much of the project, Dennis communicated well, valued our priorities and, in addition to architecting a space that we're thrilled to be in every day, suggested creative and functional solutions when problems crept up during building.

Fantastic firm. They helped me with an ADU conversion (I worked mostly with Susette, but Dennis and Kim were also very helpful.) . They handled everything -- from the initial measurements, design, and application to managing the permit process to advising on the construction. Totally professional, super competent, and great to work with. If not for them, I might have given up on what could have become an unwieldy process -- they made it easy and it turned out great.

Thompson Naylor has helped us to renovate 6 areas of our home over the past decade. Each, 4 bathrooms, one gym and a kitchen, are magnificent.. They are brilliant when it comes to design and a pleasure to work with. Dennis Thompson designed our home remodel. It was a major remodel, a complete gut down to the studs and included a new roofline and “green” features. We couldn’t be happier with Dennis’s work and our new home. Dennis has an artist’s eye and flair and a craftsman’s sensibility for practicality and quality. Equally important, Dennis is an exceptional communicator, listening carefully and thoughtfully. He very patiently explained all the concepts, issues and options as well as answering our endless supply of naive questions.
