Yellow nutsedge, aka "nutgrass" (Cyperus esculentus) is a nasty weed found in lawn and garden areas. It is a sedge, and not a grass, and methods of eliminating it vary. Yellow nutsedge is easily identified by its yellow to light green glossy leaves and the triangular shape of the stem. It grows most actively during the warm spring and summer months.

Mitch and the team at Bluegrass were fantastic to work with. Our landscaper dropped the ball last year and missed all spring applications. The lawn was an absolute mess with brown patches and crab grass having completely taken over. They suggested we wait until fall and burn everything and start over, it was that bad. Mitch and his team came in mid summer and turned things around for us. Signed up immediately for the full service for 2022!

Beware. Before I employed Blue Grass’ aeration and seeding services this past fall, I told Mitch Lynd that special attention would need to be applied to a small area with some surface roots and a short hill. Mitch said he’d use a small machine to aerate, no problem. When I noticed there were no plugs, just seed applied to the area, I was told by his crew that they’d be back out to re-seed if nothing took hold. They were not. When I contacted Mitch about six weeks later, he said it was too cold and promised he’d be back out in the early Spring before the crabgrass preventer was applied.

Definitely recommend. Very reasonably priced (after getting quotes from a few places, local and national, that service my area), quick response, and was out to service my lawn within a week of me signing up.
Before Blue Grass, my lawn was patchy, brown, and completely covered in dandelions. After just the first treatment, the dandelions are completely gone, the grass is greener, and there are fewer patches (and those that remain are smaller). I'm looking forward to see what future applications do!

Anyone can buy fertilizer from a box store and spread it on their lawn themselves, but it is important to know that there are many different types of weeds and unwanted growth that happens in your lawn. Certain fertilizers are meant to kill specific weeds and it has to be applied at the right time of the year and season. Mitch and his crew at Bluegrass Lawn know all there is to know about growing a lawn and keeping weeds away. They are very customer-oriented and will do whatever it takes to make you happy and make your house and lawn look its best. They will even put down grass seed in the fall

It’s nice when a business is not just throwing at you a standard cookie cutter service. Mitchell took the time to look at my lawn, described each weed or what was growing and how to treat it. Had Blue Lawn about 4 -5 years back and just wasn't satisfied by the continued spread of lawn ivy and stopped using them.
Went to Natural Lawn and they were no better at halting the lawn ivy so went back to Blue Lawn after Mitch offered a great deal to get us back.
Had them for the last 2 years and am stopping service. Now I have the greatest crop of crab grass, buck weed, spots of chick weed and massive invasion by nut sedge plus lawn ivy. Paying $80+/application - all they do is feed the weeds I am convinced.
Called Mitch to discuss dissatisfaction early in Spring. He left

Worst lawn service outfit in the Philadelphia area, beyond doubt. Avoid them at all costs! My lawn was an embarrassment to the neighborhood after I used Mitch Lynd's company. And he charged high prices for his sub-standard work, too. I fired him before I left the country, yet without my knowledge or permission, they continued to come. When their bill never got paid, they had the audacity to report me to the credit bureau. What a slimeball!

Hired Blue Grass after reading their ad for lawn care service and replaced our previous service (green thumb). Its been about 8 months since they have been on and not only has the lawn gone considerably downhill, we have been approached for requests for all sorts of "extra" services and fees added for problems that are clearly not present. They were asking for sprays for crab grass (after searching the entire lawn, there was none present) and like the other reviews mentioned, generally just billing for services they were not providing. Just a scam to pad their pockets. Their

As a former customer I felt compelled to warn others about the horrible service I received. My property is 2/3 of an acre and I got a cheap price for lawn treatments from Mitch Lynd. He sent his "techs" out who did a 15 minute rush job, failed to do a clean-up leaving a mess on my patio & driveway and drove the tractor over my shed ramp destroying it. The treatments ($65 each) showed little improvement. When I complained about his techs and how bad my lawn looked with little improvement Mitch was always quick with an excuse. "It's the heat, lack of rain, give it time"
